I havent' worked in a hospital since 2006. Basically, an old babe in the woods.
I began a nurse refresher course in Aug and finished the didactic part in Nov.
Now just waiting for an opening in labs and clinicals.
It was a $3000 course, so I am really serious.
Basically, Nurse Recruiters look at me like I'm crazy.
Am I too old? I'm in excellent health and even teach an exercise class twice a week for which I am certified:lol2:.
Anyone else been through this? Think I'll get hired after I finish the whole course?
Thanks. gooberpeas.

As long as you're in good health, active, and still able to perform your duties as needed to be done, I don't see you being too old. I suppose age does have some form of concern for employers, say, around 55+ they may get weary on new hires, but it shouldn't rule you out as much as you feel it will. Are you feeling any sense of being uncomfortable because of your age that may be making you feel overly self-conscious when talking to these recruiters? I will be wishing you the best of luck for when you complete the refresher's course. :)
