Hello,
I'm an older student, 35, going back to school. Graduated from UT Austin in '93. I have decided to make a career change. Just had a baby and make pretty decent money now. However, I really want to become a nurse for more reasons than I should bore you with.
Two questions,
Is a 3.92 GPA on my core classes good enough? I got a B in one History class. The rest As. But the history class does count in the core GPA.
Guess if I don't get accepted, I could spend that semester retaking History. yeah!
Because of the .4 GPA bonus they give, is it going to be virtually impossible for 4.0 GPAs to get accepted?
Also, anyone my age going back to school with kids?
Thanks for any input.

I'm 35, two kids, one husband, Aggie (Gig 'em), former tax accountant. I will have (God willing) a 3.85ish GPA in core courses after this semester, and I'm applying to TWU's fast track for Summer '09. I still have to take the NET test, but I just called and they still don't have Fall dates.
So, yeah, I'm an old lady, too.
But I will say that I'm awfully glad that this is my last semester of prereqs at the junior college...Where I'm the oldest chick in the class.

I just finished the fast track and there were several "old ladies" in my class! :-) Haha. I think there were at least as many "old ladies" in the traditional program as well. Don't let it hold you back!

You should be fine! I got accepted to TWU's fast-track BSN without having yet completed Texas Government and History I; I'm taking them this semester so they'll be done before classes start. The point is, they give more weight to science courses than they do to stuff like history and government. Since I had a 4.0 in the science nursing core classes, they were willing to accept me even though they didn't have any grades for my history and government classes. For all they know, I could end up making a B or a C in either of those classes, but they took a chance and I'm in.
Like everyone else said, just do good on the NET and study that reading comprehension! It's the most difficult part of that test.
