Old Folks Forums

When I was first seriously considering retirement, I found a website that I liked. Like allnurses, on Old Folks Forums there are a multitude of forum categories, including general discussion, crafts & hobbies, and humor, the ones I most often frequent.

Nursing is in my blood, so I often refer to it in my submissions. Like when one of my virtual friends who wanted to go on a hiatus, suggested that I take over his long running humorous thread series that takes place in a bar:

We just buy at auctions or antique malls. Our posters in the green music room are of early recording artists (like 1890 - 1908).

We had a wind-up Victrola on which we played THICK records.

Thick records (about 1/4th inch thick) are made by Edison and must be played on Edison phonographs/players. Edison was late to the game and didn't want to pay for the patent Victor had on the thinner records.

I used to listen to Sarah Vaughn when I was a kid; wailed along w/ her two songs "Broken-Hearted Melody" and "I'm Caught in a Whirlpool (of Love"). Can you imagine a 10 or 11 year old girl singing these and trying to be soulful? ?
