Hello All,
I am a practicing RN who graduated in 1997 with her ADN. I am looking into these two programs, and I would love to hear from prospective, current, and graduate students to share any information you about these two programs. I am interested in the quality, length, and accessibility of Instructors. I would also like to know if these programs are truly meant for working individuals who may or may not have a family.
I am a practicing PICURN with a family. I am trying to decide between these two programs. The only reviews, I have been able to find are mostly negative. I would love to hear from any students attending these programs to find out how labor intensive they are, How accessible the Instructors are, and the quality of the program. PLEASE HELP!

The majority of our online RN-to-BSN students who post here are attending UT Arlington, Excelsior, WGU, or Chamberlain, so you probably will not receive a timely response from anyone who is attending or has attended OKWU or Capella.
Personally, I'm enrolled in WGU's online RN-to-BSN program and am loving it.
Thanks for the information.

I am currently attending Capella's RN to BSN program. I am in my second class. Both classes have required lots of reading materials, discussion posts, and APA style papers. I have enjoyed the program so far and received an "A" in the first class. I currently have an "A" average in my second class.
The work requires about 12 hours per week of your time. Good luck!

I know this post is a little old, but wanted to give my opinion of OKWU. My cohort met in person and had a few online components. The online portions required a lot more time dedication than the in-person classes. We wrote MANY papers. The plus side to this is that I feel well prepared for my graduate education and learned a lot about APA. You don't do a clinical rotation in the traditional sense, but do have large assignments that satisfy this requirement. Overall, I felt it was a very busy and fast-paced program especially if you work full-time. I did finish with a 4.0, but felt overwhelmed at several points in their program. There is a lot of reading required, but never had a test. Was all papers, projects, and presentations, plus a lot of group assignments.
Thank you for your response, I begin classes this January. All of my classes will be online, and I will be taking one class at a time. Do you think it will be manageable working part-time with a family? I chose OKWU over Capella, because I would be focusing on one class at a time and graduate in June of 2016. According to the reply from a student attending Capella's RN-BSN program it was heavy paper writing, reading and discussion boards. The big difference between the two programs, is that in order to graduate in the same amount of time as OKWU, I would have to take two classes each quarter. I was concerned that it would be even more labor intensive, and difficult with juggling a family and working part-time. I know with any online program the majority of the classes will be paper writing...... Good luck in all of your future endeavors!
Oh it is definitely doable, as I have 5 children and worked full-time as a brand new teacher; therefore, I was learning a whole new career at the same time. The instructors are flexible and I felt like they had our best interest at heart. Good luck. It will be over before you know it.
Thank you for your encouraging words! It is nice to finally receive some feedback about the program, and the professors.
