OHSU Fall 2015 BSN

Published

Hey all,

Anyone else applying for Fall 2015 BSN program at OHSU?

I am getting my application together now, but I wont be able to finalize or submit it until after December when fall term grades are posted. I am only applying to OHSU, specifically the Monmouth campus. I currently have a 3.93GPA and after Fall term I will have all but two prerequisites finished. The remaining two are Writing-122 and Nutrition.

I think I have a pretty competitive application but there is still a lot of doubt.

I have experience working in long term care and also as an EMT in an under served rural community. I know I will also get extra consideration for having already taken Microbiology.

I know we are still months away from interviews or acceptance letters but it would be nice to get the conversation started and get to know others who will be applying for 2015.

Congrats!! Did you receive your e-mail yesterday as well? I haven't received anything and I am feeling pretty bummed. I know my GPA wasn't as high as probably the majority of the applicants but I still had hope. How did your mock interview go?

Yes, I got my email yesterday (Friday).

I feel like the mock-interview went well and helped me get a better idea of what to expect. There were some really great candidates in my group. And even though I felt like I totally choked when it was my turn to speak, I got great feedback from the student and felt a lot better. Group interviews can be very awkward!

How did yours go? BTW, my GPA isn't perfect either, so hang in there. They might send emails in batches - who knows? When is your Chemeketa essay?

Hi everyone. I got an email yesterday for an interview. I applied to the Ashland campus. I was just wondering if anyone knows how many they interview? Aren't there 40 spots?

:) Good luck to everyone btw.

I enjoyed the mock interview! I was VERY nervous. I received good and constructive feedback. I felt it was a wonderful opportunity. I am holding onto hope until I get that rejection letter :( I have a 3.65 at OHSU plus Micro, Chem and CNA experience. I was hoping those might help with my lower GPA but I am not feeling very confident now that so many people have received interview invites. My Chemeketa essay is April 11th. Did you apply at Chemeketa as well?

I believe each campus has a different amount of spots. Monmouth is closer to 30. I am not sure about Ashland.

Yes, I applied at Chemeketa and will be there on the 11th for my essay too! I wonder how many people are were invited to do essays.

WOU said they'd interview 64 and offer seats to 32.

I assumed everyone that applied for Chemeketa has the opportunity to do the essay since it's worth 50 points. If I get full points on the essay I will still only have 355/360 so I am not counting on getting in there. I'm trying to stay positive through this journey! It's very emotional! I just want to be in a nursing program. I'm so ready for it!!

AbbyVee When is your interview? Perhaps we'll be in the same group! I hear Ashland has the largest cohort 50 or 60-not sure how many interview spots. We're almost there though!

Kthomas I've been told over and over that GPA is the primary factor that will gain you admission... everything else is secondary.

I've hear many different opinions about that. Also, I have a form from OHSU that shows the accepted GPA ranges for each campus. The lowest GPA for Ashland last year was 3.57, Klamath Falls 3.32, Monmouth 3.73, Portland 3.72, La Grande 3.42. So, as you can see... there's a wide range accepted.

Maintaining a positive outlook and perseverance are qualities that make a great nurse! I retook a TWO A&P classes to get that coveted 4.0.

Hanana, my interview is on April 10th. I saw earlier in this thread yours is on the 11th, right? I hope we both get it!
