OHSU ABSN 2013 Applicants

I didn't see a thread.....although it is quite early yet for some to be thinking about the upcoming application session. I am a senior at Marylhurst/PCC, will be graduating Spring 2013 and applying to OHSU, Duke, and John Hopkins this Fall.

Anyone current students that have advice? Anyone who just applied have any tips for the application? Anyone else applying?

wow, I haven't checked here in a while. I had no idea they were sending out emails about applications! I had to go and check all my junk folders to make sure I hadn't gotten one and missed it! So far nothing.....but now I feel like it's only a matter of time since my cumulative GPA is on what sounds like the cusp of acceptable. Did everyone get their "rejection" emails last week? I wonder if they're still sending them out.....

I got my e-mail on Monday about the 3 year BSN program at OHSU (no word from the ABSN program yet........)

I think they will continue to send these out as they finalize the final applicants until next week-- the admissions counselor whom confirmed my e-mail was for the 3 year program said ABSN final decisions are due April 8th so they can get out letters by the 15th

We have concluded the initial review of our applicants and are now moving select applicants forward to the 2nd phase of the review process. As you know, we receive many more qualified applicants than we can accept and, unfortunately, your file has not been selected for additional review at this time. Although a final decision has not yet been made and your file could still be selected for additional review, it is highly unlikely that your file will be selected for admission this time. Although we know this is disappointing news about the status of your application with us, we wanted to provide you with this information now in case it could help you shape your educational plans with other institutions. We hope to have final admission decisions notifications out by June 1st 2013.

We will contact you with more information when we are able to publicize the final admission results in the coming months. After decision letters will be mailed out in June we will accept requests for feedback at that time.

I have a quick question for those that received the emails. Which OHSU campus did you apply for?

My rejection letter was from the 3 year program at the Portland campus. Others on here have heard back from various other campuses, though.

People have also heard back about the ABSN program through e-mail, just that their applications were also not moving on.

I applied to the ABSN program only... The rejection isn't official, I guess there is a chance, it's kinda sad but actually good to know so I can accept a spot at another school. This is the email I received...

Does anyone know when the scholarship information will be sent out?

With offical letters some financial aid package information is typically sent out- but I think we find out more in May at orientation, too. After you receive a letter of acceptance, you will be able to contact the FA office at SoN and speak with them. Some scholarships are open now, though, and close before the end of April- so I would be looking and researching on your own. If I get accepted, I plan on applying to the Nursing Corps/HRSA scholarship- but you have to have proof that you have been accepted.

It does appear that in years past orientation has been in May, yes.
