  1. Congratulations everyone! I also got a phone call on Thursday and was accepted into the summer cohort :) Very excited to meet everyone
  2. I don't live in such a rural area but I have also experienced similar 'awkward comments' such as: "what's your REAL name?" (assuming that I must have a Japanese-sounding name) and similar situations as yours. It is very awkward, especially because technically I was born in Japan, speak the language, and have been and lived in Japan before. But I have spent most of my life in the US and consider myself American (as well as Japanese) and I completely agree with you that it can sometimes be frustrating that so many people assume that we are foreigners when in fact we are just as American as anybody else. I do feel that sometimes it is out of genuine curiosity but sometimes it can be pure ignorance, and people need to understand that just because you look 'different' that you are a foreigner. Maybe not in all cases, but in a lot of cases people I agree with you that people are being culturally insensitive. At the same time it is something that we probably all do so the best we can do is try to explain our background and try to get them to understand that we are just as American as they are :)
  3. dkmamato3 I called earlier today and the admission lady told me that I was on the waitlist for the summer 2013 cohort but i'm not exactly sure what that means. Maybe she just meant that I would be on the waitlist in general. It wasn't specified in the email though mamakac Here you go :) I don't think my online application status changed Thank you for submitting an application to our Accelerated BS program for summer/fall 2013. The Undergraduate Admissions Committee has finished reviewing the applications and we are pleased to announce that you have been offered alternate status with us. An official letter from us with follow shortly in the mail. We wanted to inform you of your status with us so that you can begin shaping your academic and financial planning. All letters will be mailed out no later than Monday, April 15th 2013. We congratulate you for your achievement! Thank you,
  4. i asked and they said they didn't know at this point slash even if they did they couldn't release that information to us
  5. I have also been put on the alternate list for the summer cohort. Sad day Looks like I will be attending Linfield for this summer, anyone else?
  6. Imichael I agree with maddi13 in that they are both great schools. These are just my perceptions on the two schools but I feel linfield is more close-knit and personable, while OHSU has more opportunities in that it is a renowned research institute. At this point, I am more than happy to go to either one. BUT since I am in-state, if I get into ohsu I will be going there because of the tuition difference. mamakac thanks for the update :) I really hope the final admission decisions are sent to the office like tomorrow and we magically know by the end of this week! same here, I want to plan things for the next few months, but can't because I don't know where i'll be going.
  7. me too I am getting so anxious! I was hoping we would hear something this week instead of next I might call again sometime in the next few days, and I will def post if I hear anything different; I hope so!!
  8. RoseyLove yay! its good to hear from another potential linfield classmate :) I am in the same boat, both Linfield and OHSU has its strong points, but Linfield costs way more. Although I am happy that Linfield has transfer scholarships, it still is a hefty price tag. I hope we hear some news from OHSU soon, but hope to meet you at whichever school!
  9. jldavis826, thanks for letting me know :) asthecrowflies I was wondering about federal loans because I haven't maxed out yet but thanks for the heads up about the private loans because I will for sure need to take out those as well I will also be applying for wells fargo
  10. Yes, definitely count me in on a study group :)
  11. I called the admission office yesterday but they still said they will be sending them by mid April (whenever mid april is :/). i am so hoping we will find out by next week though!!
  12. Thank you for your input! Having a science major, esp in Biology is awesome! I am sure you have so much more background than me and possibly many other students :) I agree, I just want to start school, though I am a little nervous for the course load. But I am so excited we will all be nurses next year! I think I am leaning towards Linfield now versus Colorado, so I might get to meet you come this June! Oh and congratulations on the engagement!
  13. RASKL, congratulations to you too!! I'm happy to be able to hear from other applicants as I don't know anybody else who has applied May I ask why Linfield is your first choice? To be completely honest, Linfield wasn't my first choice because it is so expensive as it is a private school, but the more I look into all of the forums on here about Linfield, the more I like the school If you don't mind, I would love to hear your opinion :) How long will the Amtrak commute take? Best of luck!
  14. Hello! I searched to see if a Linfield thread was started already for this year but I couldn't find one so I decided to start one myself (I'm sorry if one was already started!) I got my letter of acceptance this weekend and would like to connect with those of you who have been accepted as well! I personally have been accepted into an ABSN program in Colorado, and am still waiting on the OHSU decision. I'm so happy and thankful of having a choice but so torn on staying in-state and attending a smaller private school or a better known big state school with a university hospital out of state. what is everyone's situation and what are your plans? (if you don't mind me asking) congratulations for everyone who was accepted :) hope to hear back soon!
