Published

Hello everyone!

i have applied for nursing program in 3 colleges in bay area including ohlone college. i just saw the lottery result and my name is in the waitlist for spring 2019 :( . does anyone here also applied for ohlone college and know how their waitlist work? any chance of getting accepted ?

i also applied for chabot college and haven't received anything yet. please let me know if you have any information about these two colleges.

thanks

Hi fatima1, I am waitlisted for Fall 2018. I received this email from Zelma:

'Selection process from this point forward: Please note that I do not know when the next person will be called. Here is the process in a nutshell going forward:

1. If a student has decided to accept elsewhere or just decline their position and has notified me of their intentions, then I will place a call to the next person on the list asking if they are interested in the open position. Action taken.

2. If you are notified, then you must accept the position or you will lose your position in the Fall 2018 semester. This was explained at the orientation. If you do not answer, it is possible that I will need to move on to the next person immediately or if you don't get back to me in the required time frame, I will need to move on to the next available person and so on, until I reach someone who will accept the position. Please leave me the name and number of someone that can accept on your behalf, in case you are not available at the time. Action taken.

Since this can be a slow moving process, please refrain from calling me or sending emails to find out your status, as I will not have any new information for you. Based on the response and availability of each applicant, you may move up faster than expected. Most communication will be via email, so please make sure that you also check your spam/junk folder as well. Depending on how soon a position needs to be filled, it is possible that all contact will be via phone only and I may not be leave a voice mail for immediate call back.

Thank you for your understanding and we wish you the best of luck'

I guess we'll just have to wait and see. I wish I knew a rough number of how many people they usually accept from the waitlist each year it would be really helpful. Good luck!

Hi fuzzymango! thanks for your response. i haven't received any emails i think it is because i am on the waitlist for spring :( . i know it is a long wait and we have no idea how many people they will accept and i am right in the middle of the spring waitlist :( so i don't think i will get in. have you applied to any other colleges? i applied to chabot too and haven't heard anything yet :\

I also applied to Chabot but didn't get in. You should have heard back via zonemail already. At least you made it on to the waitlist right? Don't give up yet :)

Oh I didn't know about zonemail :D I just logged in and couldn't find it where should I look for it?

After you log onto the the zone, there should be a 'quick check' on the top right of the page that says 'What is my college/district email address?' You can access your zonemail account from there.

thanks, i found the letter and i wasn't accepted either :( i got in evergreen valley college but that is too far for me now i have no choice but to go there :( i couldn't find any reviews about that program so i wasn't sure if i should go there :| good luck to you hopefully we both can get into ohlone program :)

Has anyone on the waitlist heard back yet for Fall? I emailed the director at the end of May and she said they will start calling in "early" June whatever that means. I'm in the top 20 so I feel like I MIGHT have a slim chance... anyone know how far up they got previous years?

im in the 20's on the waitlist for fall. i havent heard from them either.

I got in! Good luck everyone!

Congrats fuzzymango! I'm literally in the top 20s too. What number were you?

Hi, i'm just seeing this thread. i just graduated from ohlone college's program. the waitlist is different now than it was when i started but i'm sure fundamentally the same.

everyone who currently was accepted in the program has a certain date they have to reply back to state whether they have accepted the spot or turned it down. once they receive notice that someone is not going to be attending the program, they notify the persons by number on the waitlist either by email or by phone. so ITS SUPER IMPORTANT to check your email including spam and return their call. if they dont hear from you they move on to the next person.

i wouldn't be deterred. i initially was due to start in the spring but got bumped up start a semester earlier because they had alot of people decline and accept at other schools. like every nursing program, it has its pros and cons. ohlone is no different; however, they are a great program with great faculty members who are determined to see you succeed. my class (i cant speak for other cohorts) always got so much praise from nurses, cnas and doctors for being proactive and going the extra mile to help with patient care. CNAs loved us because it helped with their patient load.
