Im hopeful we will get in. I heard #14 on fall waitlist got a spot last year and #27 for Spring. Your chances are great! You can email -------------------, shes the nursing program director. She will give you whatever information she is able to disclose. Quick response too.

Thanks Ofelia, I’ll email her ??. I sure hope we all get in. I’m also on the waitlist for CSM and I actually got accepted into CCSF for Spring 2021. But I still would like to attend Ohlone since I live much closer and Fall admission here would be sooner as well.

Were both on the Spring waitlist. Your correct, no email here either. Only information I have is from the initial list they put up on their website. Your #4 for fall right? When do you find out when a spot opens up?

Definitely excruciating!! I have to try and keep myself busy before I make myself crazy haha. Did you apply anywhere else? I'm still awaiting to hear from Long beach and AVC as backup plans. Getting into nursing programs is no joke. I've been trying for couple years now.

Tell me about it! Waiting for the list to come up was already bad enough, now waiting to see if we’ll get in, another 4-7 months. Not to mention I’m kind of far from the list!
I also applied to chabot, unfortunately I didn’t get in either the admission nor the waitlist. This is my first time applying to nursing programs and I definitely should’ve applied to more schools!
Totally agree. Nursing itself is difficult, but so is getting into programs! Have you tried private schools?

Yes, I am 4th spot on the waitlist for Fall 2020, I hope I get in as I feel like that’s not too far away from top of the list. I’m thinking about emailing the nursing dept tomorrow to ask. Do you know who I should email specifically for this? I think you guys will get in soon too as many people decline sprint admission from what I heard.

I’m pretty sure you’ll get in! You’re like on top of the list. Let us know if you get admitted! I’m positive it’ll be good news for you ?

Thank you, I appreciate it ?. This is my first time applying and I know it’s a hard journey but we will l see soon. May I ask which other schools you applied to? I didn’t get into chabot or Merritt college. But I did apply for CSM, CCSF, Ohlone. The CSU programs were just too strict and competitive to get in.

#12 isn't bad at all especially considering this is your 1st go at applying. I havent tried private schools mostly because of the cost. Such a difference between private and community college. But will consider if I dont get in anywhere this year.

This is my first time applying to nursing programs as well. I also applied to chabot, but no luck. I just remembered I applied to CCSF too (I forgot cos the application was really early) I didn’t get in the either haha. I was going to apply to CSM, but I missed the deadline by one day! Was there a mandatory orientation too? It sucks cos I finished my GED’s at CSM and I didn’t even get to apply.

Aww bummer that you missed CSM’s deadline. But yes, I had to attend meeting at Ohlone, Chabot, and CSM in order to apply, but no meeting needed for CCSF. You should look into applying at Merritt college in Oakland too; they do the Lottery System. I would take note of any future required meetings for schools. But glad you’re on the Ohlone waitlist now!

There’s a HUGE difference with the cost. I looked into Unitek college and I was really thinking of just taking that route so I don’t have to wait, especially since nursing is extremely competitive. They have a 2year BSN program. (2 years if you’ve gotten all your prerequisites done, 3 if not) and the price was ~150,00! I decided not to go for it mainly because it was their first time doing that BSN program (and of course, the price!)

I heard good things about Merritt college. Have you ever tried applying there?

I know, I’m hopeful and anxious at the same time being in the waitlist. It feel so near, yet so far away!

I did apply for Merrit this year, I didn’t get in but many students felt like they didn’t stick to their guidelines of how they were supposed to run the lottery this year. Basically they’re application process comes in phases. Me and many other students were sent a physical letter after we passed this first phase and were told to submit our TEAS scores so we can be entered into the lottery. However a day later, Merritt decided to just run the lottery without even taking any TEAS scores, in which they also didn’t stick to their guidelines. So people got mad because they could’ve narrowed down the list with more qualified students had they accepted the TEAS scores before hand, Even though this is a lottery school. Later on Merritt emailed me saying they apologized they couldn’t stick to their original rules because Covid made them skip straight to just entering everyone into the lottery instead.?

Hey girl,

I just had a virtual meeting with CSM's nursing counselor, ----------------------- a few days ago cause I was so worried that I wouldn't be able to get into Ohlone. So basically, below are all the updates I got from the meeting, I hope it will help:)

There will be a virtual orientation online, but before you enter the session, you will be asked to pass a quiz regarding the workshop or slides (whatever you call it LOL). The info about nursing session will be post on their website around Aug.

Starting 2021, CSM no longer taking TEAS. You will need to take HESI exam. And all the documents will be submitted through NursingCAS.

They will be updating the Criteria in July, so be sure to check that out.

That's all. Good luck ?

Whaaaaattt. Totally unfair. What’s the relation of that with covid though? Were you guys supposed to hand them a physical copy? I thought it’ll be submitted online or something. Oh well, look at the bright side! No matter what, you’re in a nursing program!
