Ohio University Semester Switch

Even though we already have a thread about Ohio University's online RN-BSN program, this question is so important that it merits its own thread.
As you may or may not know, Ohio University is currently on the quarter system. However, they are switching to the semester system beginning fall 2012.
Has anyone had it explained to them how this will effect the nursing program for people who don't finish by then? Will the nursing classes keep the same schedule and credit values? I would hate for people who get caught in the middle of the switch to end up getting screwed by this.

We are all supposed to have a dialog with our advisor on this subject in the near future. As far as I'm aware though, OU hasn't yet started this process. It looks to me that the effect on those (like me) who are caught in the change will be minimal. In my case, I actually wind up taking one less course than before in spite of having to sit out a session (this is my own evaluation - obviously not yet validated with my advisor). You do have to pay attention to what classes are being combined if you want to avoid repeating a portion of a course you may have already had. There are a total of 6 classes in this category - they become 3 classes under the new system, so if you don't take the companion course before it's phased out, you will have to take the combined course and so repeat half of what you've already taken.

It looks to me that that most, if not all, will not be harmed by the switch with a modicum of up-front planning.

I had a brief conversation. We will only need 120 credits and the only change for us is the reduction in nursing courses. Hopefully I will only need a total of 18 classes! :yeah:We shall see, not getting my hopes up. We are also to receive an email with the official form that we just send back. She was not too concerned about discussing it and I reviewed my plan for the next 2 years.

The TDCP form should be in your MyOhio mail. I was pleasant surprised by what mine contained: I was waived from stats and the two business courses in the nursing curriculum (I missed the latter in my DARS).I signed and returned the form as quickly as possible before OU changed their mind.
