Hey there! Central ohio lpn now for 2 years in Home Health setting. Was offered a job at a skilled nursing facilty and would love the experience, so I've decided to go for the interview.

I'm nervous in what to expect if I get hired. I would like to hear from anyone who is an LPN or is familiar with LPN wages in this type of setting. All in all I have 4 yrs exp, 2 from CA in HH and Dr. office MA supervisor, now 2 more here in OH in the HH setting as well.

What I should expect to be paid hourly? What have your experiences been working in this setting? Do you feel like it's given you a good range of experience? Do you feel like there is any room for growth/promotion? Any input would be appreciated!!!

SNF / LTC pay for LPNs in the Columbus area is usually 19.00 - 21.00 / hour, depending on the facility. Some offer shift differentials for nights / evenings.

I worked in two different facilities as a LPN, (Still work at one of them as a RN) and like it. You will get a lot of experience in time management, passing meds, doing treatments, etc. If you work a skilled unit, you will get more experience with skills than on a long term care unit.

As far as opportunities for advancement, it really depends on the facility / company and what positions they allow LPNs to work in. In most cases, for anything more advanced than floor nurse, you will need to be a RN.

I got an offer in the canal winchester area for 17.50/hr which is still more than I'm making rt now. I wonder if my expectations are just unrealistic. I had almost 2 yrs exp. from CA, then moved here and have been an LPN for a year in OH. Maybe the offers are based on how long I've been in this state only. I don't know. But when I read your comment I was a little bummed. This is the highest offer I've gotten so far out of 4 facilities.

I'm willing to bet that I know exactly what building that was. It's an assisted living building right? ;)

If you want to work in that part of the area, there are two other buildings (Both LTC / SNF) VERY close to that one, that I know for a fact pay more than that to start. PM me if you want more information. :)
