Baldwin Wallace ABSN Program 2015-2016

U.S.A. Ohio

Published

Hi everyone. I have been accepted to the Baldwin Wallace ABSN program for 2015-2016. I'm graduating from Ohio State this semester with my B.S. in Psychology and decided to pursue a career in psychiatric nursing instead of psychiatry and felt that the BW program would be the best way for me to do it in a timely manner. Anyways, I wanted to see how recent graduates liked the program, how they did on the NCLEX and how fast they found employment after graduation? I also wanted to know if any recent graduates had received the HRSA Nursing Corps Scholarship program while attending as I am thinking of applying but I'm not sure of my chances since I would be enrolled in an accelerated program. Also where did you and your classmates live? Please let me know about any experiences and things to be aware of.

Hi Lacey,

I was just accepted to the program for the August start and am super excited! Got the call yesterday so don't really know how to precede quite yet in terms of housing or things, but regardless I will be joining you in a few months!

Congrats Emily! That's awesome. Sorry I haven't checked back here since my last comment, I haven't gotten used to the site yet lol. I was trying to send you a PM but it seems I have to post a certain number of times before they allow me to use the messages. Did you receive the email this past week about the paperwork we have to send in? There's a "next step for accepted ABSN" page on their website that explains the different things we need to do before orientation on August 7th. Admissions also sent some info about a few on campus/graduate housing options a couple weeks ago. I've been struggling to find a place to live because I have a dog and there are not many pet friendly (and affordable!) places that currently have an opening for August. Keeping my fingers crossed though!

Hi! I was wondering if you guys remembered how the interview went? What were some of the questions they asked you about?

Thanks! I am applying for 2018

Sending you PM!

Hi everyone! Can anyone please tell me how the second interview for the ABSN program is like? What kind of questions they have? I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

Hi! could you please tell me how your second interview went? do you remember what questions they ask? thank you

Hi i believe I should be starting in August..in 2 months. I am from a different state and was wondering which apartments are the best to move in to when attending this college? I too have a dog that I would like to bring with me i am pretty stressed about this! I would love you any advice!

Thanks,Ruth

Sorry for the late comment, I forget to check back here! For anyone looking for simple apartment housing near campus that allows a pet, I stayed at Tabor Ridge Apartments in Berea. It was nothing fancy but worked fine for us the year that we lived there while I was in school!:)

Also, here is my copy/pasted response that I gave someone in a private message today. Hope it helps anyone that visits this thread in the future!

"Honestly so much has happened in life since my interview that it's hard to remember what questions they asked. I'm sure it may be different now if faculty has changed, too. I do remember the questions were more to get to know you and kind of see how you can tell a story rather than the typical interview questions, which is an easier and more relaxed interview style in my opinion. Just be yourself and you will be okay

They have made changes to the program since I've been there so I can only speak to my experience. Back when I went it was a 12 month program. Professors are all very nice but with any college program you will have lecturers who you enjoy learning from and those who are harder to get an idea of where the focus of the material is. Overall I believe it is a great program and it prepared me as much as it could for becoming a nurse. Regardless of where you go, the real learning happens on the job, to be honest. The clinical sites were a good experience. We rotated through different Cleveland Clinic sites, Southwest General, St John's University Hospitals, etc.

I live in Pittsburgh so comparatively housing is much more affordable in Cleveland. I rented a simple apartment in Berea that was super close to campus and allowed a pet. It was called Tabor Ridge Apartments. Nothing fancy but it worked for my husband and I for the year that we lived there. I think the school also has some apartments available to nursing students at a pretty low price.

best of luck to you!"

If anyone has questions about NICU nursing feel free to PM me, then I'll get an email notification and can respond! ?
