Ohio board of nursing should be ashamed

U.S.A. Ohio

I graduated on June 25th 2009 from LPN school, I sent my application for licensure, and fees and my pearson vue fee on 5/4/09, board recieved it on 5/5/09.

They recieved my letter of completion from my school by certifed mail on June 29th,09.

I am starting to get really P.O.'d I have done my part which was send my application in a TIMELY manner, and so far they have not done their part, it was waaay longer than 30 days before my name appeared as "pending", which wasn't until june 22, 09. Mind you they received my app on may 5th!!

Now I have graduated and still no ATT, the website said 14 days from the time your name appeared as pending. I keep calling and emailing and I can't get through. Noone calls or emails you back!! All I want to know is if something is wrong or what is going on with my application. I really need to get licensed, because my background check expires on july 9th (tommorrow) I don't even know if i'll have to get a new one at this point. I also have an amazing job waiting for me but I can't even tell them when I'll be able to take the test!! I am so angry and anxious. My anxiety level is through the roof,

I just need to talk to a human being. It's not fair that I have done what is required of me, and they can't meet their obligations.Like as I am typing I have called the BON at least 50 time- literally- trying to get through, I send an email at least every other day!! I'm just so confused as to what I should do. I would just go to their office if I was able to but I am not in Columbus. Does anyone have any ideas as to what I can do, or is in a similar situation? Does anyone know if it will matter that my background check expires tommorrow, I was told that it may not matter since my name is already pending, I am DREADING having to get another one which will further delay me getting licensed. If that happens , I will turn around and it will be Christmas and still no ATT!! If this keeps up I will be homeless by the time I get licensed. I have been broker than I ever have in my life this school year and I am so ready to work!! Sorry for the loong rant but I don't know what to do, Im so worried. I could just bawl my eyes out right now. :bluecry1::sniff::o:cry:

lots of us are in the same boat. I graduated 6/12, pending but no ATT in sight.

Yeah I finally got through to a human being today after pressing redial Numerous times. She told me that the have program completion letters from 6/29 but the stack is 12 inches high and they are working on alphabetizing them and then after that they will get them from that department and THEN I should have my ATT she claims a few more days, IDK though it takes 48 hours to get your att from Pearson vue so probably more like a week or 2 :(

were you calling the main number or the license number? I cant get through at all

I have been told a few times that they are only on the apps received May 11th. It's hard because those people that were "poor" because of their last classes had to save up before being able to register to take the test, they are all suffering through this wait-time. I was one of those people, luckily my work is reimbursing me for it, but I couldn't just come up with the money out of nowhere to begin with so I couldn't even send in my information until mid-June. Now, I'm in a pickle because I have to have my license by the 15th of October in order to apply to my next step, LPN to RN Associates degree. I completely agree, the BON should be ashamed!!!!!!

I am so glad to see I am not the only one this is happening to. I sent my application in at the end of April, graduated May 14th. Just recently appeared on the BON website as pending and still no ATT. Calls and emails do not help, I am just somewhat relieved that I am not the only one experiencing this problem. I graduated from an Illinois school and I am not kidding when I say that all but two or three people from my class have taken their test already and gotten results.

I was calling the licensure unit number, I started at 8:00 am and just kept pressing redial unitl I Finally got through at 8:45 ish, I told my boyfriend this phone is mine until I get through. I wasn't about to stop unitl I heard a human voice. I was relieved because they told me that it doesn't matter that my background check expired because they got my app before it expired so thank GOD for that!! I'm just so p'o'ed because I have a potential jo that I REALLY want badly, and it's an amazing job and I'm so lucky to have the opportunity in this economy. They just keep asking me where are you at as far as licensure and I just cringe every time!! I'll be darned if the pitiful ohio BON messes me up with this job I will be going to Columbus to picket if that happens:angryfire

Oh yeah and BTW a girl I graduated with told me that she spoke with someone that told her that they have had 7000 new grads and they are dealing with lixense renewals and they only have 2 people working in the licensure unit!!! Absolutely ludacris!! How are you going to be a professional business, and charge people 75 bucks each times 7000 = ALOT of money and have 2 people working?!! It amazes my mind how inept they are. I don't really care if they are busy, it is not my fault nor my problem, I turned my app in a timely manner and now I sit here daily twiddling my thumbs waiting on 2 people to wade through 7000+ apps, No wonder the Ohio job market is overflooded, too many diploma mill schools cranking out more and more nurses every year. I am considering getting another career on the side just in case this flooded job market takes and even worse turn.

I sent my application in on May 12th. I managed to get a human when I called the BON today (her name was Karen). She told me that they have my BCI check and completion letter from the school. She said they are still working on the applications received May 11th (approximately 150) and had no idea how long it could take to get through that stack. I tried to get more and more information out of her and got NOTHING! This is soooo aggravating. The hospitals around here will not even consider looking at you until you have your license.

If anyone gets anything more out of the BON, please keep us informed. Thanks.

I heard that some days they manage to get 50 new applications in the system, some days 150.

It's sad to see the Ohio BON's inadequate handling of new grad ATTs, when the KY BON does it all in about a week.
