Officially a "nursing" student..?!

Nursing Students General Students

I received my acceptance letter today!! I totally had a panic attack and dropped everything. I'm thankful my iPhone was in an otterbox! I am still in shock and it feels surreal. My husband is beyond excited and proud of me.

So, does this officially make me a "nursing" student?! Congrats to everyone!

Oh okay. So maybe I should call the school tomorrow and see what is said? I just like to have things planned out and figured out well in advance. Thank you :)

I would call the school. You can also google nclex practice test. A lot of them on the Internet that are useful.

This is a great time to pick up used books and equipment for a fraction of the price! I've had good luck on craigslist, and my campus buy/sell-a-book page. Best wishes!

I'm going into my fourth semester without ever having bought an nclex book and Ive been on the Deans list every one of those semesters :) But...I am buying one now to actually use to start studying for the nclex

Oh my goodness! Do you know how GREAT it is to hear that? I keep seeing posts about people barely making C's and so on, and it has me terrified!! I'm use to mostly A's and minimum B's!

Thanks for the responses everyone! I went online and found out what books are needed for my classes and wrote all of the info down so I can find the cheapest price possible. All except the book for hospital measurements because it wasn't listed.

Anything is should be doing or reviewing? I've been putting together folder and I bought fluids and electrolytes made incredibly easy, As well as a med dosage math book (the for dummies one). I'd like to practice some of the math things but my book doesn't have any practice ones and I'm not really a fan of sitting at the computer and doing it. Anyone know of a book that includes practice ones?

Thanks! Its not that bad as everyone says. Just go with it my first semester I studied and struggled the most and after that it got much, much better. Its a lot of work but definately doable my planner is my life saver. The information itself really isn't that hard just try to actually understand it and go from there. If you get a good handle on the stuff you cover in the beginning then as you go it gets easier because it all builds of the previous stuff. So whatever you have a hard time with you will eventually master :) Cardiac was always a struggle for me but after so much many classes going over it I finally understand it a lot more. Clinical is also really fun and a great place to really learn. That helped me a lot because when you actually see the symptoms of a disease you will remember and when you perform a skill in lab you try to memorize the steps but when you actually perform it in the hospital and the steps make sense as to why they're needed you will always remember :) Good Luck, but I'm sure you don't need it!

I'm such a planner! Lol and I LOVE cardio!! :-) I have like a mad love for it. I'm such a dork.

I'm just so scared of not doing good or being good/smart enough to be a nurse. I get shy and I don't like to answer things out of fear that people will think I'm a show off or kiss ass. I just have a lot of fears going through my head right now. I never thought itd happen for me! Yikes!! Thanks for the words of wisdom! I'm

Grateful for any help or tips. I noticed we need to buy a care plan book.. I wasn't expecting that in my first semester! Scary. Good luck with the rest of your nursing journey!!

Thanks, I have only two semesters left of my BSN program :) Care-plans are not that hard especially if you have a good book, we used Ackley & LAdwig one which I love! Cardio might be what you love but I just mena we all have that one system that is harder for us but almost every nursing class you go over and through all the systems that by the time you're a senior you have a good grasp on everything. Don't worry about being a show off or kiss ass hahahha you have plenty of more fun things to worry about. You ahve to remember most of the people that also got accepted and pretty much everyone at this point is going to be serious about their education so that part is different.

Oh! Gotcha! Lol. And that's good to know! I guess it really us a Totally different beast than pre-reqs! All of our books are by the same publisher: elsevier. This is ours http://www.us.elsevierhealth.com/Nursing/Care-Planning/book/9781437701746/Ulrich-and-Canales-Nursing-Care-Planning-Guides/

Hahahah it really is I forget that sometimes since I've been in it since I was a sophmore. I think the Ackley book is also by elsevier too we use a lot of their books as well. Well have fun, nursing school is quite the journey and it goes by fast!

Congrats. :yelclap:
