Hello everyone. The other day I posted feel like a failure, because I seriously just thought I failed my final in Prin of Bio. I just found out I passed with a B and that was my last and final step to be put on the waiting list. I do feel much better, and actually can say I set out to accomplish something this summer and i did it. My goal was:
Chemistry
Biology
Comp 2
Net test- which I had to take twice but passed the Second time.
Thanks for all the encouragement. Next week I will be starting A&P I just hope I do well in that class.

Wow, I go to OCC also. I started there, but attended HFCC in dearborn over the Spring Semester and applied to that school for the Nursing Program only because they accept alot more students than any other school. YOu also do not have to have all classes finished before applying. Another good thing is that there is a waiting list so your guaranteed a spot.My chances look good for fall of 06. Which campus do you go to. Are you in Nursing school already. I am attending OCC for the fall, I live in Oakland County so it's cheaper for me to attend there, and all classes will transfer to HFCC
I have been pulling my hair out for 2 years at highland lakes finishing pre reqs and questioning the nursing dept logic on mat 1100 requirement if not done in h.s. when nurse math test questions are derived from mat 1050! they told me sometimes colleges does not make sense and this is one of those instances Anyway, sounds like we have a lot in common. I have 2 boys 3 if you count the husband. I work in howell at st joes as a pca. Currently looking at online program to get done sooner. Occ is filled up for next 2 years and it seems everywhere else there is a long wait or they want to torture you with more chemistry and algebra. colleen :wink2:
Well let me ask you this. Do you have any of these classes done. If you didn't take in HS
Principles of Chem.
Principle of Bio.
Eng- Comp 1
Eng- Comp 2
Psychology
Pre-Algebra
If so all you have to do is take the Nurse Entrance test at HFCC and you could be put on the list also. I just think it doesn"t hurt to try for as many school possible. The waiting list is not that bad there.

Colleen, what is a PCA
a PCA sorry did I make a typo? it stands for patient care assistant. Someone must have been unhappy being called a nursing assistant. My patients ask me all the time what pca is. I tell them that I am their personal assistant for the sole purpose of comfort and relaxation. they seem to like that, but when they figure out you don't have the happy meds, they drop ya like a hot potato Anyway, I have the following credits done. a/p 1, micro (non lab), life science, soc, psy, comp 1, comp 2, mat 1050, mat1100, also took phlebotomy, basic emt training.
sorry I read that wrong I thought i read what is a cpa
Nope U did not read it wrong, I put CPA at first. Well it looks like you have mostly everything except Chemistry. OCC told me I would in order to be priority 1 have to have all classes including Nutrtion, Phy Ed, Arts. HFCC does not require a Phy ED or Art. I am taking Stress Mngm online for Fall and A&P, also Sociology. I have been trying all over to get into the hospital for a clerk or anything. It all seems to require experience. YOu are lucky to be involved in the hospital environment. I want to be able to see exactly what I am getting into. Is St Joe's affiliated with St Johns
no, its seperate. the reason i took the phleb and emt training was because I knew their was going to be a proble getting in and that was last year! thats why I took the training. St Joesph mercy health system is managed under trinity health. St Johns is pretty big. providence hospital is under st johns. I forgot to ad that I have done phys ed, and humanities. still need a/p2, chem, nutrition. Did you have kelty for principles of bio
No I took it at Orchard Ridge this summer with Dr al amurani. You would'nt believe how many positions I have applied for on the website for St johns. Never have I gotten a response, and its been almost a year. That hospital is hard to get into. I really would love to work at Providence or the St John Oakland, any suggestions
