Anyone have issues with the company that administers the NCLEX (Pearson Vue in this state)? I have a disability and have been going thru the office of vocational rehab (OVR) for funding the NCLEX exam. Registering with the state was fine and I have a TPP. I got statements from my school and from my doctor and filled out the paperwork just as the instructions said to do. OVR sent that and a voucher (which i was told explained that money was set aside for me and should suffice as payment) in early February. Well, 2 weeks later I called, they have no record of me. I call the OVR office, PV sent them a bill. The bill was sent to the state capital and a check was cut and sent march 4. I called every week to see if it had arrived, it had not and still no record of any payment. According to OVR, the check had been cashed mid March? When OVR traced where it went, apparently it was sent to PV but not the exact office it was supposed to go to - and my (apparently nonexistant) account was not credited. So, last week OVR said they would just send another voucher. It has been four months since I was in school and I have been trying to study but I am so frustrated and tired of all the run around. I just wonder if anyone had a similar experience and what you did to rectify it. I had planned to send a complaint letter to the national council of state boards of nursing, but I need the check number and for some reason OVR cannot provide that for me.
I was going to pay for the exam myself online with a credit card, but if you are requesting special accomodations you cannot do that. I talked with OVR about reimbursing me for the $200 if I send a check, they said they could not. PV also said that once they get a certified check, it will be 4 weeks for the ATT to process - yes, even more waiting.
So, thanks for letting me vent here LOL! I just wondered if anyone else had any problems similar to this dealing with Pearson Vue examinations. Anyone have any advise for me? I was thinking of contacting my local congressman about the whole debacle and see if he can help straighten it out.

To be quite frank I would contact the Congressman if you are that upset. A Congressman helped a friend of mine when she was having a problem. It worked. Or you could contact one of those "help the consumer" advocates on one of the TV stations or at a newspaper. When you start complaining to those who have a widely publicized voice, such as TV or newspaper personalities, often you get what you want with red tape cut through. Sorry I can't be of more help. Hang in there and good luck.
Thank you Cali,
I know there are probably people who are worse off than I am and don't have the resources in place to help them get by in this economy. I consider myself a very proactive and resourceful person who follows-up with things and seeks out opportunities. This brick wall is extremely frustrating in light of the current job market.
I suppose, if I had already taken the test and passed I may not be any further along in my job search than I am now. I know a few new RNs that cannot get a job. I just had this picture of myself being able to finally buy a home. This economy has finally made them affordable (well, if I had a nurses salary it would be) and I didn't want to miss the opportunity. I will make it through this just as I have made it through other bad situations - one day at a time.
God Bless you for letting me vent. I will give OVR another week or two, then I will call my congressman. I know our government has so many other things to worry about, but it seems someone on the inside would know who to call to get the answers I need.
