I would take it if you can make it work with your school schedule. The only thing I find odd is that they are telling a PRN employee to work a min of 16hrs a week. Normally a PRN employee (be it a nurse, tech, or whatever) has to only work 2-3 shifts a month, so this hospital seems to be defining PRN as something closer to part-time.

In order to remain PRN you have to work 2 shifts per week, but I thinks it's their way of not having to offer me part-time benefits such as PTO and insurance, but after 6 months I can apply to a part-time position like PCA\PCT or a nurse extern position where I can actually use my clinical skills (and get the benefits):).

I was offered a PRN Patient Sitter position at my local hospital in which I hope to work as an RN upon graduation:heartbeat. The position calls for two mandatory 8 hr. shifts per week and EOW . The pay isn't all that great but they are going to work around my school schedule. I am currently going into my second semester in the ADN program, I only take about 9-10 credit hours for Fall/Spring term and 3 hrs for Summer term, my current GPA is a 3.391. I also currently fill in during school breaks in the bookstore at a different CC ( the pay is great and it's doesn't interferer with my school schedule so I would keep this job also). I guess my question is......would you take the position.....I know how important it is to get your foot in the door due to the "nursing shortage";)
