Off the beaten path nursing jobs

I was wondering how nurses find the clinic jobs, or jobs in a dialysis center, urgi-care centers...things like that.

Online searches mostly pop up hospital things unless I don't know how to refine a search which is entirely possible!

Would a Sunday paper be better? Or do I need to get names out of the yellow pages but again, what am I searching under? Do I need to get specifc on the speciality and if so how do I find out all the different types that are available?

good question. i'd like to know this too

I will look in the yellow pages for my type of employers, home health. I look under 'nurses', 'nursing registries', 'healthcare', 'home care', 'home healthcare'. Can also add 'nursing homes' and 'retirement living' to these. Maybe not be exact words, but close. Of course, if you want to work at a doctor's office or clinic, look under those categories. Sunday paper is usually only a good source if you live near a large city. Better to go online and use http://www.indeed.com or the other employment websites.

I get the phone book out and start calling all of them asking if they're hiring. It' show I landed my job

I check all the websites of local clinics and doctor offices. Most have applications and say if they are hiring. Plus a few places advertise on location that they are hiring. I'd just drive around with resumes and hand them out...

Most non-profit places, like community health centers, don't have the budget or the staff to properly advertise for jobs. Even if they have websites the postings often are not current. I would just research local places and call and see if they're hiring or just send your resume and cover letter. You can also try idealist.org.
