Thank you to everyone for the encouraging words.. and no I am not able to go part time, I need the insurance....... boy I wish I was able to!!
But thank you!! everybody for the encouragement and suggestions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will do my best to keep my chin up!!!! and keep the eye on the light at the end of the tunnel!!!
For me, the last semester was the most fun. You'll get to practice more independently, clinic starts becoming more comfortable, confidence builds, etc. I suggest making a calendar or looking at all you have accomplished over the past few semesters, what an accomplishment! The semester will fly by, stay on top of everything, plan...you know, like you have done over the past few. Use your classmates as a support system, others probably feel the way you do and won't mind sharing stories, sweat or tears.
BTW, I'd go ahead and start looking thru the review books, e.g. Fitz. These tend to motivate and actually are useful in clinical practice. There are several CME web sites that offer case reviews, discussion and like Fitz, I find them challenging, rewarding in my day to day practice.
Finally, be good to yourself, remember to reward yourself for your accomplishments. Take a few hours, get a massage, get your nails done, go dancing, jog, whatever it takes to relax and ENJOY this last semester. Get'er done!
You will make it!!!
I did the FNP program also, graduated in 2004.
I worked as an RN in the ER every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night from 3-11:30pm. I went to FNP clinicals at one site 10 hours a day, 3 days a week (+ 1 hour each way commute) , at another site 8 hours a day once a week and at another site 6 hours a day once a week. Plus class 3 hours a night, 3 nights a week. That's 7 days a week between work and school the whole last year of my program.
You'll look back and wonder how you ever did it, but you will do it.
Just keep keeping on, it will all be over soon and you will be so glad you persevered.
