ODU concurrent fall 2015

has anyone applied to ODU for fall 2015? if you did, you can see they gave you the option to choose traditional BSN or riverside concurrent. I work with riverside and was told the concurrent program would be now getting an AAS from riverside while attending odu for your bsn. I was just wondering did anyone apply, and what was your gpa, hesi score , etc. I currently go to TNCC in hampton, finished all my pre-reqs except chemistry & sociology (currently taking), have the experience as a CNA and Anesthesia Technician, the only thing is that my hesi score was an 82% and my gpa is currently a 3.1 (thanks to C's in anatomy) Anyone else applying?

Hey girls. I'm so sorry about the program. Don't lose hope. They really do take into consideration if you reapply! Just as a heads up to how competitive it was...they were only taking about 50 people and about 500 people applied. A competitive HESI score is over 90. Make sure your science classes are As. Having experience in medical setting is a big plus. Go talk to Ms.Hawkins to get suggestions.

How lucky Lol, I thought with my experience working for riverside health system and volunteering there it would help out. I got an 82% on my Hesi but my Gpa is a 3.2 í ½í±Ž

I know in the past Riverside looked at everything, grades, interview, and experience, but I don't know how ODU selects students. I know TCC selects by grades alone (GPA/TEAS). Because ODU and Riverside selected together, I wonder if they just went through and took the highest GPA and HESI, put them in a grouping then picked from that.

I was accepted into the concurrent program this year with a 3.8 GPA and 93 on HESI. Last year when I applied I was put on the waitlist even though I had the same GPA. I had just transferred to ODU from TCC so I didn't have a GPA with ODU at the time. I think since I took some classes at ODU it helped me this time around..

Okay cool. Hopefully when i transfer to odu i can pick up my gpa. I took most classes at tncc, a 3.7 before anatomy 1 & 2:eek: I really might take them over because i refuse to give up just yet.

For central school of practical nursing, how soon did you find out if you got in? Im still thinking about putting in an application

The cut off to apply is May 15th, I believe I found out in June. You have to take the TEAS-V, if you score high enough to be competitive, you have an interview. Then you sit and wait, and that part is killer.

Man oh man, whats the cutoff score? I hate taking the teas, the hesi is so much easier

I honestly have no idea what the cut off score is, but if you want to apply, I would do it soon. The sooner you do, the sooner you can test, and if you are not happy with your score you will have time to test again. If you do apply, I know of a place to get grants that will cover 100% of the cost. Between my Pell and my grant, I have spent nothing substantial out of pocket (field trip money, drug book..)

I would definitely consider taking any science classes again that you didn't do well on. ODU is preferential to anyone that's taken classes with them whether it be your prerequisites or not. I think that's what helped me this time since my GPA was exactly the same..

Your right, that could be. If i don't get into tcc maybe ill just relax this summer and take one over in the fall at ODU

They are actually debating ending the odu partiality due to a high incidence of students failing out who were chosen just because they went to odu. My instructor said 12 people failed out just in 2 semesters. I was told they are going to just stick with who has high gpas. So if you did well at TCC or another community you should be golden.
