OCCC Spring 2014 Applicants

U.S.A. Oklahoma

I have been checking this board consistently over the past couple of weeks hoping that someone would have started a thread for this spring's admission, but haven't found one yet! Are we slacking, or am I the only one here?!

Anyways, I turned in my application last Friday with 18 points and was curious to see where everyone else stands.

It is good to see some people on here. I turned my application in a couple of weeks ago, and I also received an email saying it was received. It will be nerve wracking to wait 3-5 weeks. I believe people with 16 points were accepted last Spring. I spoke to David Orburn several months ago, and that is what he told me. Good luck to you all.

I turned in my application with 16 points and 2.9 GPA but I never received an email telling me they got it... Is that okay or should I email someone?

When did you turn your application in and who did you turn it in to? I turned mine in about 3 weeks ago. I know people who are in the fall program and the ones who turned their application in early received emails, and the ones who turned theirs in closer to the deadline did not. I don't think it is anything to worry about but you could always check with them to ease your mind.

I'm pretty sure I turned in my application August 23rd (or at least sometime close to that). I've mentioned that I've been checking out previous semesters applicants boards to get a feel of how long they had to wait, and a general idea of what the cutoff was, and I notice many of them saying they called to check the status and all that, but I don't know who they were contacting! Anyone?!

I'm sure we will be waiting a few weeks minimum, but I'm curious to know how many applications were turned in altogether?

Megan, that sounds like about when I turned mine in, it was the first week of this semester. I'm not sure who they emailed but I spoke to *********, in person, when I gave him my application. I have spoken to him in the past as well. I wanted to make sure my application was complete and I had the amount of points I thought I did. I'm taking classes this semester to get my associates in science, so maybe I can stop by and see him in a week or so. I am curious how many applicants there are too.

I am glad I am not the only one obsessing over my application. I turned mine in last week and received the email this morning that it had been received. I am so nervous....I joked that by the end of the waiting period, I will not have any hair left from the stress of it all:D

What do the point totals look like...any ideas? I ended up with 19 points and a 3.5 gpa! I meet with ********* prior to turning in my app to verify points. Does anyone know if they send out emails stating point totals?

Hello ladies...I have been curious and fighting the urge to not write ALL of my thoughts on here lol! Ok, in case someone didn't get their email I will say I turned my app in on August 30 and I received the generic confirmation email on Sept 5. I had the same problem when I attempted to call in to speak to "the unamed man" but it seems that he neve answers or wasnt there. Granted I work 40+ per week and always seem to remember around lunch or 4pm after I get my son. So..Any news would be greatly appreciated ladies! Also, in the past, a lot of people started getting their immunizations in advance. Anyone doing that? I want to sign up for a CPR class at OCCC, but does anyone know how much the book costs?

When we get our acceptance letter it will have all the information about the books, I am not sure about the costs. I know several of my friends from the fall class bought some online and saved some money. I already have my CPR certificate and I have the majority of my immunizations. I did the CNA program to get the extra point. I do think it is good to get started, if we think we will be in the class. I will attempt to speak to the "unamed man" next week. I am sure every semester he gets hounded by us eager students. Once they send the acceptance letters we should have enough time to get everything done before orientation. I am getting very excited and anxious.

Thanks for the information. I have been trying to stay focused on work, but I have so many other plans going that kind of depend on an answer. I'm predicting we will find out the first week of October :)

I am going a little crazy waiting for confirmation that I am going to get into the program. I know they said 5-6 weeks, but that doesn't stop me from checking my email every couple hours.

Hey all! I just called up to admissions to check and see if they do in fact send out an email confirming the number of points you have. He said that they are not doing that anymore and that it is going to be another 3 weeks before they send out acceptance letters! He said that they had almost 200 applications so it is taking a while to go through each one and check points. I am going nuts over here....I have learned that having patience is hard for grownups too:sarcastic:

Wow! 200 applicants, that is even more stressful. I wish I would have applied with 20 points so I would feel more confident. Someone with 16 points and a 3.5 got into the fall, she was an alternate. Of course that doesn't mean anything. 3 weeks sounds like forever!
