Hello guys! I'm going to take prenursing courses at OCC this summer semester. Do you think I can finish them by the end of the year of 2007?
Thanks

Do you have to take all of the pre-req's? Are you going full-time or part-time? Remember you need to take A&P1 and 2 in sequence.
You will have Summer I, Summer II, and Fall to finish the courses. If you are going fulltime, it shouldn't be a problem, but if you are working a full-time job, it will be tough!
Don't forget you can CLEP out of a lot of the classes.

Thanks for your answer Logique. I'm going full time for three semesters. I hope I can get it done.
BTW about the CLEP do you have any tip for taking the tests?
Thanks again.
No problem - I am currently taking my pre-req's also and will be done in Dec, but I'm only going part time.
Invest in a REA Study Guide with a CD for the CLEP tests. The PSY and SOC tests are not difficult at all...just study for about a week prior and you should be fine. You can take the CLEP test at MCC and a few other locations in the area.

I believe you'll be able to do it. For A&P 1 and 2 may I suggest taking Vivian Anderson at the AH campus. She is AMAZING!!! ALSO, She teaches a&p1 in the winter and right after that in the summer 1 semester she teaches a&p2 which is what I did. You'll have them out of the way real quick. Also, for microbiology, if you absolutely KNOW you're going to stay at OCC for the ADN then take health and disease, if not and you know you may change your mind down the road then take the lab. Personally I'd recommend taking the lab.
Good Luck to you!! :)

Thanks for the tip RN. And yes I want to stay at OCC for the ADN so I will take BIO 1570. Do you have any advice for taking courses at Southfield or Orchard Ridge campus?

I don't go there, my sister does. However, I have to say a great tool is the www.ratemyprofessor.com site. It has made a huge difference for me and my classes, especially for the BIO classes.
Good luck to you!

I have a question...what does CLEP mean? It sounds like it means you are able to test out of the classes...does anybody have more information about this? What classes are you able to do this for and how do you go about doing it? I am also an OCC student and it would be great to be able to get out of taking some of the pre-req!

How long is the wait list for OCC if you are trying to get into the priority I status?
If you are going to apply for Fall 2008, there isn't a wait list at OCC, acceptance is based on your pre-req GPA. If you don't get in, you have to apply again the following year.
So it's doesn't roll over from the previous years students? How many students do they accept each year?
Nope, and I *think* they accept around 225 each year (don't quote me though, I'm going off of memory from the Informational Meeting).
