I have never heard of it either. Is it like an epidural?

Sterile water papules. yes used by many nurse midwives and RN's. They HURT greatly going in (sting) but provide about 2-3 hours of geniune relief from back labor. See the resource above. It's a good description of what they do. Hope this helps.

We use it and it provides wonderful relief. Some mums complain about having to get 4 sticks in their back- generally the ones who are afraid of needles in the first place. It does take practice to administer effectively though.

I mentioned this to a friend the other day and she told me her midwife had recommended it when she was pregnant. She told me it burned like crazy during the shots, but she felt great afterward.
