NYU Traditional/Transfer BSN Applicants for Fall 2011

Published

Hi all,

This thread is for the traditional/transfer students who are waiting to hear from NYU for Fall 2011 admission. Let's support each other through the process as we wait to hear our status.

EMT, you sound awesome based on your stats. That's scary -- I expect a rejection letter coming my way soon. G'luck with your other schools and thanks for sharing your experience.

hey Sc2634,

I submitted my application on April 1st as well. Do you have all your required documents checked off? I only have one :-/ .. When did they download your app? when did you receive net Id?

The only documents checked off are my college transcripts. I'm a college graduate so I did not submit a high school transcript or standardized test scores. My common application was downloaded on April 2. I had to call to get my net ID. I called the Admission Department last week. And the student ambassador gave me my login. I never recieved it via email.

Hey all,

I don't know what to think... I was around campus today and I decided to go to the undergrad admissions office. The counselor that I spoke to told me that my application was complete but it still didn't reach the committee. She said I should be clear now and my application should be ready to be reviewed. She gave me a card with the number and name of the person I should call on Monday to find out my decision. My netid now shows everything checked off. I applied April 1. :banghead::banghead::banghead:

EMTLEEN1987- Thank you so much for letting us know. Sorry to hear about their decisions with you, things happen for reason and better things will come your way. Don't give up. Follow your dreams.:nurse::nurse::nurse:

Guy's let's stick together like glue! Keep does comments rolling!

Thanks Joel! I appreciate the comment. I am going to Florida State University to finish my Bachelors in Science..Doing a couple of medical internships abroad this summer and then applying to FSU's Medical school =) Fingers crossed. Good luck to all of you out there I know whatever decision you receive is definitely for a reason good or bad, that reason may not be clear right away but it will all work itself out in the end :):)

EMTLeen1987 I'm sorry :( I was certainly impressed by the credentials and being an EMT is no joke, shows real commitment. There are big drawbacks to NYU anyway, namely the debt especially when you compare it to Hunter or Lehman, Hunter is great fees are soooooo cheap, and school has such a good rep, I know they go on GPA and scores on an entrance exam, you have be at the college for at least one semester to apply to the generic or accelerated nursing program, have you thought about transferring there to finish up prerequisites then apply to Hunter Nursing. I looked into because NYU is probably going to be too expensive for me. I applied traditional/transfer too and have no pre reqs as my degree was music, got my work cut out! Not heard a peep from NYU and after careful consideration pretty sure I can't afford it. Good luck everyone I will keep you posted if I hear anything, I don't even have a GPA because I was educated abroad and with my degree being music I'll be very interested to see how many credits they think I have. No wonder the lower income people in the US have a trouble getting a leg up in life, it's nigh on impossible getting to college to do nursing here, I have even more respect for nurses now I know what they went through just to study!!

Hey Sc2634,

Thanks for the response! ;-) My app was downloaded April 2nd as well and submitted April 1st. I received my net ID via e-mail. I havent received any news yet! :-(

I just got an email from a named person in admissions saying my application is currently being examined and that they want a WES evaulated transcript for my transcript from a European college, too bad after numerous calls I was given absolutely no warning of this, and I had spoken to someone is admissions before not a counselor - now I have to 'rush it ASAP'. So that means contacting a school in Europe, encouraging them to 'overnight' anew transcript via fedex which they refused to do last time and took a month for it to arrive in the mail, then overnight the transcript to WES and ask them to rush an evaluation and send directly to NYU (if they do that?), as I'm so highly doubtful of being able to afford fees I'm not sure I'll bother. So I guess they're looking at us transfers right now.

Anderson11,

Sorry to hear about your situation. Is there a way you can have WES evaluate an unofficial copy of your transcript and provide "unofficial results" first? And with additional time, you can secure the official results and forward it to NYU?

I know from my experience with my undergraduate college and community college you can get an unofficial transcript via email, fax, or downloading it directly from the school's site. I'm not sure if your European college is flexible on it's transcript policy and working with you.

Good luck!

Joel001,

Any word? Good luck! I'm still waiting to hear back.

hi all,

unfortunately, i was not accepted and received the email this morning. best of luck to everyone!

Hey all,

I didn't make the cut. It's unfair how they give more opportunities to 2nd degree students than to those who don't have a degree yet. These people changed their minds about their current profession and now they want to become nurses. It's more competitive to get in as a transfer student; since they accept more BSN students.

Good luck to all... Follow your dreams.
