NYU 15 Month Accelerated BSN - Please share your experience

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hello,

I am very much leaning towards attending the NYU second degree program over LIU in the fall and would like some insight as to what to expect. Please include any details you would like to share.

What are typical class hours during the Fall, Spring and Summer semesters?

Is it 5 days a week, pretty much all day?

Were you able to do an externship?

How many students per class? Clinicals?

Is/was getting through the 15 months harder/easier than expected?

What were the easiest classes, if any? Any classes that we particularly challenging, difficult or confusing?

Any additional suggestions/details would be great.

Thanks again!!

Does anybody know what they're going to do with housing? Are people living in dorm rooms or trying to find a place in the city - either with a roommate or alone? I just wanted to see what people were thinking. I'm a bit older than most undergrads so I didn't want to live in the dorms, but I know living in the city can be $$$$$$$. :( Let me know what everyone thinks! Thanks!

I'm gonna be living in nyu housing. I'm 22 though, so it's not a big deal to me. However, if I were older, I'd def try to find an apartment.

So, I don't really know if I'm accepted yet. My net ID does work and I can log into home.nyu.edu and set up my email account and contact info, etc. I called the admission counselor yesterday and she said that I should be hearing from them soon and that my application was complete. However, when I called ITS client services... he told me, "Yes you are an accepted student! Congrats on getting into NYU!"

So does this mean that I got accepted into NYU but not yet to their accelerated program??? Confusion... I'm just anxious!

I think if you applied to the accelerated program i dont think they do admissions separate to where you'd get accepted to nyu and not to accelerated program. I was able to access the home.nyu.edu website before i heard from them as well (maybe a week or 2), but some people who were accepted too weren't able to access it. i dont think they'd give you access to it if you weren't. i'd just say wait for a letter just to be sure... it shouldn't be long.

Thanks... Sounds like it's a good sign if you were able to access the site a couple weeks before you actually got the acceptance letter. I'll see what happens!

Hi!

I just got into NYU nursing program, however.. I am in a weird situation right now..

Did the program require a physical exam before you start your clinical rotation? such as blood test or something?

I am a hepatitis b carrier, the immunization form requires 3 shots, but i am a carrier.. i am not sure if I am still qualified for this program..

I appreciate any feedback from you!

Thanks!!

Yes, you will need a physical and blood test for NYU and I'm guessing for any other nursing program.

I actually know someone who was a hep b carrier in our program. What she did was just get all three of her immunization shots instead of doing the blood test. As long as you do all 3 shots you are fine. Just decline the blood test. These physical exams are before you enter the program so you will be fine. As long as your hep B is not active you should be fine. Good luck!

I am wondering if anyone attending this program who commuted from Suffolk County?

I'm considering what options I have if I do not get into the schools I've applied to, but I live in Bay Shore, which is about an hour and a half east of NYC. Would there even be enough time in the day to do this??

Can anyone estimate the total cost of the program? The website only lists a flat-rate for term, so I'm not sure, since this is a 15-month program, if it's figured out differently.

Thanks.
