Hey NYU Grads, as a student of their Nursing program, I was wondering if I can get some input of how you guys are doing in the Job market right now. I know the markets tough right now, and I'm sure every new grad is having a difficult time landing a job. The reason I ask is because the two people that I know who graduated last semester landed a job right away after the program. Did the school help at all in recruitment process? or if not how are you guys managing to pay off the huge loan?

Hi NYnurse86!
I have been watching this post for a while now and the No Reply status makes me believe that all the grads from NYU are busy working!! Which is a very good thing considering that I'm currently enrolled in their bachelor program!!
Even though I still have a couple of years ahead, I hope that by then the market will be much better!

Graduated May 2010, thankfully I did a flu shot gig and I just started doing home visits so all hope is not lost. I'm just looking forward to a full time position, hospital or anywhere for that matter.

Hi! I graduated in May 2010 as well. I know it has been difficult for many grads; however, here in the last few weeks everyone I knew who was unemployed got multiple offers. My advice is to network; talk with nurse managers on the clinical floors you are on about possible job opportunities or just advice. Utilize all contacts you have. Make sure you begin applying to internships/programs prior to graduation (beginning of your last semester).

Why spend that much at NYU for a degree in which it is difficult to get a job?
Well, gtshin30303, I'm sure many of us didn't realize how difficult it would be. However, there are numerous reasons why someone would spend the money, maybe they have the money, maybe it's a family legacy, maybe they value the "NYU name", maybe they needed an accelerated BSN program, maybe they just wanted to try out NYC. I could go on and on. Everyone's reasons/values differ.
