Hi,
I was curious if anyone was applying to NYU ABSN program for the Spring of 2018! I have a Bachelors of Art in Communication with a business emphasis; I am currently taking prerequisites and applying this summer.
Congrats to everyone whose been accepted thus far!
If you don't mind me asking those who were accepted..
1. what were your stats (gap, prereq gpa etc)?
2. prior degree?
3. previous health care experience?
I know applicants are viewed hollistically so stats may vary all over the place.
Thanks so much and congrats again! Fingers crossed for myself and everyone else :)
hey,
I received my acceptance yesterday 10/27 via Albert.
My stats: overall gpa 3.3, prereq gpa 3.4, prior degree BS health science, prev health care experience: teaching assistant for an anatomy class, and cpr class, shadowed nurses and doctors abroad, worked in health insurance and volunteer in a rehab/nursing home.
I'll be declining my offer, so there should be another seat opening up. Would honestly love to attend NYU, but just can't swallow the price tag. My loss is your gain! Best of luck to those who are waiting to hear back!!
For @Bhartijx4, to provide another data point: 3.3 undergrad, 3.8 prereq, BS in biology, strong LORs, not much relevant healthcare experience besides 200hrs of volunteering at a hospital from 10+ years ago
Hey! I was accepted on Friday to NYU ABSN Spring 2018 program.
Overall GPA: 3.0
Pre requisite GPA: 3.2
Prior Degree: Bacehlor's of Health Science 2014
Professional Experience: Worked in healthcare administration for a year and then recruited for healthcare professionals in NYC. Quit Corporate to become a certified yoga teacher and spent the past year traveling to yoga conferences, teaching yoga, and working towards renewing pre reqs to refresh memory and focus on getting accepted. I also have a lot of volunteering experience and philanthropic work.
Previous Health care experience: In college I was in a four year nursing program but never completed it. I had clinical experience at Yale New Haven Hospital in Psych. Maternity and NICCU. I had experience in nursing homes and private practices as well.
I was definitely accepted based on a hollistic approach.
hope this helps!

I thought the priority deadline was 9/15? I submitted mine that day. No update on my end... keeping my fingers crossed.
Does anyone know when the program actually starts?
