Published

Hello all,

I decided to start a thread for the NYU accelerated nursing program since I have not seen one for fall 2018:)

For those of you who haven't heard back, have you heard anything yet? The wait is agonizing!

still nothing

I expected that I am rejected

Still nothing as well

nothing yet. trying to stay positive but its getting hard

Nothing yet either.

Hey Guys,

I was accepted to both Columbia's and NYU's accelerated nursing program, and wondering which one to pick...Columbia is an MS, NYU is a BS in Nursing. (Columbia has recently moved away from BS to MS.)

As my undergrad is from a completely different field, just wondering which one is better to get to become an RN: an MS or a BS in Nursing? Is it more difficult to get a job as an RN if you have master's credentials? Wouldn't hiring managers assume you are an NP with an MS? Which program gives me a higher chance to get a job right after graduation? Any thoughts? Thanks!:)

First congratulation on getting into both programs. I feel Columbia and NYU is about the same as in hiring new nurse after graudation since in all of NY Columbia is ranked #1 and NYU is ranked #2. So I think you will have to compare time frame (15 months vs ---) and financially which one is doable for you.

Same here. It's hard to stay positive but this waiting game is ridiculous

Thanks NYURNABSN2018 for your reply! Length is the same and financially both are very similar, so I think the question is which program prepares me better for being an RN and being more marketable as an RN...?

Anyone hear anything?

Hi! Congrats on NYU and Columbia! If programs

Are around the same length/tuition I would definitely do Columbia. It has a better program and you would graduate with a masters in nursing. That automatically increases your salary and your chances of getting a job. Most RNs eventually go back to school for a masters which puts you at an advantage :)

Also to answer your question. A BSN is a bachelors in science an MS is masters of science. Master of science is more schooling. Hiring managers would not assume you are an NP because that's alot more school than both BSN and MSN. Overall, you have a better chance of getting a job / higher salary with a masters in nursing, (esp from Columbia). I eventually want to get a masters after working a few years :)

If that is the case, I would go with Columbia. Congraulations again!!!
