NYU ABSN Fall 2018

Published

Hello all,

I decided to start a thread for the NYU accelerated nursing program since I have not seen one for fall 2018:)

I heard back 4/16 to the ABSN and was accepted!

And will be attending.

Hey Guys! I called the office today and asked them about the application status disappearing and they said they weren't sure why that happened( that was no help) but if i remember properly that was mostly for first year students to see their decisions so if you're going for your second degree I'm not sure if that what you would have clicked either way! mine did disappear but it looks like it happened to a bunch of people. I also asked about my application and they said i might hear something next week of by June! Apparently my decision hasn't been made yet.

Hi everyone! I just received my acceptance letter for the ABSN program! I have to admit, I'm a little shocked and overwhelmed, but excited for this new journey nonetheless! I'm new to allnurses, but have been semi-keeping up with this thread for a while, but not as a member. Does anyone know if there is a Facebook group for the ABSN Fall 2018 program? If so, do you mind giving me a link? I'm from the Los Angeles County in California, so this will be a huge move for me. Does anyone know when we actually start the program? I haven't accepted yet, so haven't received all that information, but will be accepting very soon!

If I get in, I'll be moving out from SoCal as well! I believe the program starts sept 18? Or around that time

If that is the case, I would go with Columbia. Congraulations again!!!

Thanks:)

Hi! Congrats on NYU and Columbia! If programs

Are around the same length/tuition I would definitely do Columbia. It has a better program and you would graduate with a masters in nursing. That automatically increases your salary and your chances of getting a job. Most RNs eventually go back to school for a masters which puts you at an advantage :)

Thanks for your thoughts...good point about RNs going back to get a master's in the future!

I feel nursing education is currently in a flux...when I speak with RNs with 20-25 years of experience, they are literally shocked why would anyone need a master's degree to become an RN:)

I have a feeling that Columbia - moving their accelerated program to the master level - is focusing more on those who are on the DNP track or want to become NPs any time in the future.

I'll be visiting the Open House at NYU and see what my impression will be:)

I got into the Fall 2018 program as well and will be coming from SOCAL! :)

Hello!

I have been accepted into the accelerated nursing program at NYU for fall of 2018! I am very happy and excited but I am terrified by the cost. It's about $25k per semester for just the tuition. Since I already have a B.S in Public Health I will not get any grants.

If any of you did the program or currently enrolled. How did you pay for it? Did you get any scholarships? How much?

Hello,

First, congratulations! I am sure you will do well! May I ask what your stats were? As for the money, I think there are many private scholarships you may be able to apply for.

Thank you!

For my AA gpa was 3.01 and 3.6 for my B.S

You're welcome! May I ask, how did you do in your prerequisites? A's?
