NYU ABSN Fall 2018

Published

Hello all,

I decided to start a thread for the NYU accelerated nursing program since I have not seen one for fall 2018:)

@ekim, the people that got in applied for the spring semester... not the fall

Hey guys! Having a bit of a dilemma. I've been accepted into the program and am currently taking nutrition, lifespan and patho. by a terrible turn of events i missed my patho final and received an F. do you think it will cause my admissions to be retracted even though it technically isn't needed for the school since we take it the first semester.

thank you in advance!!

Shouldn't be an issue since it wasn't a required pre-req. You're also retaking it again in the program.

anyone get any update?

Are their admissions rolling?? If not we won't know until June

Well this forum is for fall2018. I didn't read the whole thing oops.

did you apply for spring semester?? if so did you get notified of your decision

Hi All,

I applied Spring 2018 as a non-acceleratated student (I have to take Chemistry over because I did it online). I was accepted and just went to orientation last week. For those worried about acceptance rates there is hope with NYU. I applied to about 6 schools and got denied from 2 so far. The others I haven't heard back from, but it doesn't matter because NYU has a more reputable program. My undergrad GPA was a 2.91, but I had high prerequisite grades (mostly A's and B's), a lot of volunteer experience and a thorough resume. NYU is one of the only schools that do a holistic review of your application, where they look at your resume, letters of rec, essay and then last your grades. It gives everyone a fair chance. Aparently, it is still competitive as I've heard those with high GPA didn't get in. I will be starting the nursing sequence in the fall hopefully with some of you. I just thought I'd share my stats with you all, just in case anyone is still worried about GPA and pre-req grades. My only advice is to make sure you have great prerequisite grades if your GPA is below 3.0. Also, as far as finances, NYU offers some scholarships. I even received one!

I also applied for Spring 2018 as non-accelerated and was accepted! I'm taking microbiology this semester and I will be starting the accelerated program with some of you in the Fall 2018 semester! Just wanted to post my stats because I found it to be really helpful when I was applying.

Undergrad GPA: 3.67

Prerequisite GPA: 3.78

3 letters of rec, lots of volunteering, and a strong essay.

Good luck to you all!

So if you apply non-accelerated you start the next term? how does that work...

Say if you are applying for Fall 2018, you would take the missing prerequisites in the fall then start the nursing sequence the next semester.

Ohh okay. I just applied for fall lol finished all my pre-reqs. Did you receive your financial aid package??? Does NYU give scholarships?

Yes, I received a financial aid package and they do offer scholarships. There are some they match you with when the give you the award package. But here's the link to look at the ones they offer: Scholarships | NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing . The scholarship counselor is very helpful too. Hope this helps!
