NYU ABSN Fall 2015

Published

Anyone planning to apply to NYU ABSN program for fall 2015. Since I'm in CA, there's no way I could attend the information session. What important things were mentioned at the information session?

Hey guys.

Found this on another thread..

"For fall transfers (4 yrs) I was told we get our notifications starting the end of may towards the middle of june so we still have a bit of waiting to do. If you're applying for ABSN I think your notifications have been going out and will end next week (from what I've read). Best of luck to everyone!"

Which makes sense, I have not heard anyone who was a transfer say they got in. Only ABSN and HS students.

Thanks for relaying my message. There are some that applied to ABSN posting in the Fall 2015 Transfer thread and transfer students strictly posting here. This would naturally cause some worry to transfer students because their applications haven't been reviewed yet. So, all and all please make sure to stick to the thread that's relevant to your application (ABSN vs Transfer) so we don't cause confusion and worry among ourselves :D. Also, I'd suggest not calling the office and bothering them anymore since we've got sufficient info on acceptance dates. For ABSN, you guys have until next week whilst Transfers start within the next 2 weeks, ending in mid June.

What was your stat like ?

I see that by what everyone is writing that there is no actually rhythm or reason on how they send out acceptances. All I can add is that I firmly believe that it has to do with your overall application, grades aside. I had a 3.8 GPA in my undergrad bachelors from John Jay College and then I attended NCC for my nursing prerequisites. In all of the sciences I had a 3.8 and I current just finished up with Medical Microbiology and Nutrition. I will need to send in my final grades. I submitted my application regular decision. However I do believe that my background as a social worker for the last 4 years has a lot to do with why I was accepted. I have experience working with the elderly population and I did state that in my essay.

My advise for anyone that is applying and looking for some guidance, don't over thing applying and write your essay from your heart on why you truly want to a nurse. I know for a fact that being a social worker shaped me and guided me to want to reach a career in health care so that's what I wrote about. The more personal it is the better. However u can apply your experiences so far on how it molded you to be a nurse. Also personal and in depth recommendation letters. Not generic ones. I had a professor write one for me and it looked like he swapped my name for another students. So I did not send that in! Hope this helps! Again stay positive and hopeful it's still early!

I just wanted to share that I got my rejection email Thursday morning :/ I got my B.A from Stony Brook University with a 3.4 GPA. My prereqs are all As except for one B and I'm also a nursing assistant. I'm pretty sure it was because of my essay, I could have put more effort :/. But it's fine I've decided for another school and I just wanted to give it a shot. They for sure take into account that essay. So my advise is to make it as good as possible and speak from the heart not just say what they want to hear. :) Good luck to everyone still!!!!!!

Nicole, I'm sorry for your sad news. Mind if I ask which program you chose? Thanks!

I'm still waiting to hear back about my application. I submitted by the priority deadline but the admissions office lost some of my paperwork. I didn't know until 5/1 (a month after they contacted me - email went to spam) and I followed up with them immediately.

I definitely don't have my hopes up since they are reviewing me so late. I also have a low GPA from my bachelors ('05) and am taking most of the prereqs right now w/o much to show in support of my app. I do have several years of experience as a librarian and in technology and have been a birth doula for 2 yrs and hospice volunteer for about 3.

I'll update once I know my status.

It's fine :) and ABSN, not as a transfer

Hey guys how are we all doing. I am here still having faith that we will all hear something positive this week. Anyway, have anyone recently went on Albert and realized that under financial aid, there is information saying aid year 2015, institution New York University; aid description, says no financial aid data available, or no award data available? If you all do, what do you think this means?

Got a rejection letter from a different school today - I'm hoping NYU gives me good news

I really hope NYU will accept us KayGee........

KayGee, did you check NYU Albert? Did you see your financial aid years 2015 and 2016 appear under Financial Aid tab as well as the Accept/Decline tab?

No, nothing has changed at all. "Award access not available."

It's like they forgot about me. lol
