I finished my LPN-RN program from Carleen Health Institute. I took the NCLEX under New York state board and passed the exam. I'd been waiting on the license a couple of weeks and decided to call NYbon, was told the school is under review - hence they would not be issuing any licenses till the review is done. They also wouldn't give a time frame. Does anyone have any idea how long these reviews usually take or what could be done in situations like this?
@Rose_Queen I agree, but "due diligence" has to be done correctly. I, and many others have done nothing wrong. We attended legit schools, and actually have the education and knowledge to provide care. Choosing another state to test in for me was based on the attempts allowed. I have major anxiety. I needed all the tries I could get. LOL
Anyhow, Im sure when crap hits the fan, these same BON will be looking for any able body to help out at their hospitals.

The BON exists to protect patients. The NYBON is doing its due diligence. Yes, this means resources are going to be stretched because it's a lot of unexpected work. Yes, it's going to take time. Because patients deserve someone who actually has the education and knowledge to provide care for them in their vulnerable state. FL dropped the ball; now everyone else has to pick up after them.
NYBON dropped the ball. They let all the nurses in fraud school keep there license but restrict others. They say they care about patients but its obvious when u picking and choosing

NY Been shady. They do as the please when its convenient
i_anniemd_rn said:Yeah, they will most likely void the test. I'll be able to work in other states besides FL....just not NY (so far they seem to be the uptight ones). Its just unfair that they accepted my application...knowing where I went to school; took my money, knowing where I went to school. They allowed many of us to test and PASS KNOWING WHERE we went to school. The gag is, it still states on their website that they accept approved nursing schools.
After passing, I stopped studying, so now I'm having to get back into the groove before I go through the reapplication process with FL.
This is just so devastating.
It ticks me off to know that at the height of COVID they wanted anyone and everyone on board working... students halfway through programs and all. They had no legit anything...
@maria30 unfortunately, I've been calling them every Tuesday and Thursday since May 4th. They have no response outside of "We don't know" "Its under review/investigation"....
Girl there not going to give response. They are a mess and don't care.

@Maria30 Facts. No lies told. Based on this post alone, the first person started this tread back in March 2022. I know so many students from FL who have gotten their license with NY since. All the sudden it's a no go or until further notice?
It sucks that I couldnt even celebrate because the wait is real. There should be no reason after passing 3 months ago, Im still having to purchase Archer to study and keep up with lectures.
This hold feels so illegal. @Maria30

Yes, this is pretty crazy. NY is not the only one investigating. California BON is also very strict and people from my school are getting licensed there. The Cali BON had initially placed those people on hold but eventually cleared the school and now people can get licensed. NYBON issued att for a classmate but is telling her they might not issue her license and not issuing for others who applied after her. The whole situation is really crazy. They said they want accredited schools. My school is now national accreditation but they are still making it impossible.

Yes. It's completely not right. Cause there not hold the ones with fraud to the same standards. But they know students aren't going to argue it so they get away with it
