NY state scope of practice question

Hi everyone!

I just got a job in an Integrative MD office where the expectation is to administer IV nutrionals etc.

I would like to know what is within my scope of practice for an R.N. in NY state.

What resources do I go to that would help me understand the particulars and standards of practice in relationship to IV nutritionals etc

Can we inject directly into the vein (With a syringe) or does it always have to be mixed in with IV fluid via a bag and hep lock?

I am asking for a particular reason but after attempting to research this online I am coming up empty handed.

Thanks in advance.

I am just wondering if I should have written this in the NY state forum?

I would go directly to your state BON and clarify precisely with them what you can and can't do in your new position without endangering your license, and not take advice from anyone else on a matter like this.

What the heck is an IV nutritional? Like TPN? Electrolytes?

i would think TPNwould not be included.....but something like Ca++, Mg+, etc, plus the intergrative practioners probably have custum mixes ....designed for that patient....

Well, I quit the job after two days.Things happening I wasnt comfortable with. Also after researching it I found out they were injecting GH3?

I dont know if anyone is familiar with this. I looked it up. Its an anti aging.

At any rate there were other things that became my deciding factors. I was dissappointed but would have been more dissappointed if I lost my ability to work.

I tend to be wary of many homeopathic remedies. If you had bad feelings about what was going on, I'm definitely glad you quite.
