NY RN want to move to TX

Published

But can i apply for work in TX while currently in the process of endorsing my license? i have done the application and completed the exam what's left is fingerprint. I have a family and want to move once i am guaranteed a job. so will any healthcare center look at my resume even if am still licensed in NYC. thanks

If you can get a temporary license, they'll usually be okay with you working. But usually they don't look at your application until you're some type of licensed with TX.

thanks for the reply

Just curious - which areas are you interested in? Do you have specialty expertise/certifications? The job market in Houston, D-FW, San Antonio & Austin is much tighter, but there is always a demand for nurses with hard-to-find skills.

my skills are in LTC and home health nursing. I am also ACLS and wound care certified

Sorry, I should have been clearer in my previous post. What areas of the state are you interested in? There are big geographic differences within Texas. In smaller cities and rural areas, hospitals are much more likely to employ ADN nurses. Please don't make any drastic changes until you have a job lined up.

Best of luck in your search.

I endorsed 10 years ago and my temp license allowed me to work for 30 days until I got the real one. I was living here and it came down to the last possible second. Hopefully things work better now.

Nowadays, the temporary Texas nursing license is valid for 120 days.
