Hi,

I started this thread for those that want to chat, brainstorm and encourage each other through the application cycle.

There were some delays in processing and they don't expect letters/emails to go out until the week of the 28th. However, it could be before assuming everything lines up and gets done.

Just out of curiosity, will we all find out at the same time?

The Mason co-enrollment has a sample schedule to give you an idea. Students report that it puts a strain on them to do the program, but that if you've done your co-requisites ahead of time you can do it.

If you start the NOVA nursing program fall 2020, you would apply and then start your first semester with Mason Spring 2021.

Mason tends to send representatives your first semester to talk about and recruit eligible students for the co-enrollment program.

Note that the sample schedule has not been updated to the new NSG curriculum.

Thank you again for the information! Is this the first semester there will be a traditional in person ASN program beginning in the Spring? I saw previously there had been a dynamic online/in person Spring co-hort.

I am in my first semester taking the the pre-reqs now....I heard that you must get A’s in PSY and BIO 141 classes to make it into the program. Is that true? I plan on asking the TEAS tests in the spring to hopefully start in the Fall of 2020. Do you recommend waiting until I take B&A 142 to help better my scores on the TEAS (or does that class not help with the tests?)

Thanks for your time and good luck to all.

Hi,

as far as the rumor about getting only A’s, I cant give You a definite answer because every pool of students per cycle is different. I do remember a counselor telling me that A’s are tie breakers when it comes to competitiveness. I do Suggest trying your absolute hardest to get A’’s in both 141 and 142. TEAS science is like a whole different animal on its own. It’s just hard. My best suggestion is the study the ATI book, YouTube & other notes. I think It’s possible to get a good grade on the TEAS with just Bio 141. I’ve known people that had success. If you are planning to take the TEAs for Fall cycle then start now and also time during the winter break to study. I found It completely hard to study for TEAS and taking Bio 142. 141 was easier for me but 142 requires lots of critical thinking because you have to know how systems work not just where they are in the body. The endocrine system is quite complicated. Good luck.

Hi! I took the TEAS after only taking BIO 141 and I didn’t find it that bad. I think it depends on your science background too and what classes you took in high school.

Here’s what I did to study:

I bought the Mometrix TEAS study guide off Amazon for like $30 I think. Then I took one of the practice exams it comes with, just to gage where I was at and what I needed to focus one. Next, I watched all of the anatomy and physiology videos the Crash Course YouTube channel has and started studying sections from the Mometrix book that I knew I needed to work on. Then I took another practice exam to see how my score was and improved and kept studying until I felt confident. Definitely take at least BIO 141 before taking the TEAS though.

There’s a calculator integrated into the math section too!

Well it’s been 4 weeks already. Hopefully not another 4 more. How’s everyone holding up? Writing on here is part of my coping mechanism during this wait lol.

Hanging in there. Hour by hour. Minute by minute. lol. Proud of myself, I've only checked my VCCS email 3 times so far today. They said not until at least the 28th but ya never know!!!

Lol I’m the same. Constantly checking my emails in between breaks at work.

Well at least we don’t have to wait until November!

Being that the 1st is on a Friday of next week, never say never lol. Waiting any day will make me anxious .

Lol yeah I have a feeling it’ll be a bit delayed. Someone asked on Facebook if there’s any update and they said none yet because they’re a bit behind. I’m still checking my email every 15 mins nevertheless ?

So I went to the transfer fair today. Did anyone else go? I narrowed down my choices to Mason, Grand Canyon and ODU. Mason's process seems the simplest in regards to their application process. But GC classes start every 5 weeks I believe. Anyway I was excited to find info. Basically you could graduate NVCC and have maybe a class or two left and get your BSN. However(Lord willing) I get in the program, I rather wait and see how it is before applying to the RN to BSN track. I rather soak up and retain all the NVCC nursing info and be the best I can be before adding stress but it was good to find out the info. I think the transfer fair is annual.
