Hello!
Starting this thread for those who are interested in attending NVCC's hybrid program that starts in 2016. My fiance will be an applicant :) I'm already an RN in the area. Just saying hi!
JMG, I just went to the MEC to pick up my application and I talked to student services. From what I interrupted it as, is that it is important to take those classes that are part of the nursing track that aren't specifically a nursing class before you apply. For example general pharmacology HLT250. They rank those students that have already taken those classes higher than those who haven't taken those classes. Also even though they brought down the Teas score, you still need atleast 80% in the three sections to even seem competitive.
Moody - thanks so much! That is great information. Thats really good to know and now makes sense why when I talked to someone she didn't directly say it would help me get in but recommended taking them. I know they accept more applicants in the fall so hopefully we can get some of those classes done and get ranked higher.
Hi guys! I'm so sorry about everything. I am finishing my last course I can take outside of the program, psy 202, but other than that, I have finished everything except the actual nursing classes. I had to retake one of my teas tests this spring (grammar) because I completely overlooked it when I first studied for teas---not realizing i didn't have to take science, urgh(I studied for it most). I did get into the hybrid program but because I had to retake my teas, it screwed up my original application process and I couldn't apply to the regular track that started this fall 2015 (my teas wouldn't have been completed in time)--thus delaying me by having to apply to the hybrid program. I was so upset and soooo bummed. This however gave me two semesters(summer&fall 15) to finish three of the courses needed to graduate and I now feel more confident than ever going into the program. Things happen but we just have to make the best of it. I wish the best of luck to you and I know I will see you guys next fall at the MEC!
Moody, Pooks, and JMG -- it looks like all of you are relatively new to allnurses. I found this site to be invaluable as I went through my pre-reqs, so as you work on additional classes, make sure you search through the Students boards. I found all kinds of links to videos and mnemonics and other studying resources. I had to delay my application process by a year due to health and and a death in the family and I was very discouraged, but I am now glad I stuck it out. Keep on keeping on as they say! Good luck!
Thank you so much guys. It was pretty discouraging as I planned to apply for the Fall 2015 semester too but couldn't because I was missing some stuff... Hopefully by retaking Anatomy for an A and taking some of the classes that are part of the nursing program I will be more competitive this coming fall. Thanks again!
I have had so many obstacles during this journey that it has been a slow process. Sometimes you have to just focus on the challenge right in front of you and knock that down, then deal with the next one. I just bought myself a bracelet with the inscription, "She knew she could do it, so she did" -- to keep me motivated for this next set of challenges. Always remember no matter what frustrations you are coping with, you are already ahead of those who haven't even started trying!

I'm sorry you didn't make it this time around. There is a upside tho, when you do make it you will have us to give you tips and answer questions. We have a Facebook page. You should join our group so you can get in touch with us when you start.

I know... such a bummer. Going to try to retake a few classes this spring and maybe apply a couple different places for the fall. Good luck to you!
