Any one from one of the compact states ever travel under their home state license? Also, anyone ever travel with Cross Country Travel Corp?

KatieBell,
Thanks for the quick reply. I have family in Iowa and may consider purchasing my retirement home there during this housing market slump. Currently have a home in Kansas that allows me the tax benefits but no longer has any other significant holding factor. Have looked at South Dakota information as they have some RV benefits. Will try and glean the information provided and come to the solution that helps me the most. It would be nice to limit the number of licenses but at the time I was following the jobs that suited me.
Thanks again,
Rod

I wish I lived in a compact state. Michigan is my state and they suck. You can't even verify by nursys. You have to do it all by snail mail and pay like $30 bucks for them to take their sweet old time. It's time for all states to get compact or at least verify online. It is the 21st century of cying out loud.

You still have to pay a fee for Nursys and then it is valid for only three months. So it does not really change things at all in the long term scheme of things.
The larger percentage of states are actually not under Nursys in the first place, so many others have to deal with the same issues. And it actually does not take long for MI to verify a license compared to many others.

It really has taken MI a long time for me. Everytime I have ever gotten a new license it takes from 2-4 weeks for them to send verification. So to me that is quite long. It just means I need to decide absoultely where I want to go that much sooner and then get the ball rolling. If they were on Nursys I wouldn't have to worry as much about if the state I am trying to get licensed in is going to get the info from MI in time for my next assignment. I wouldn't mind paying the fee to Nursys every time considering I already pay it to MI to do it all by snail mail.

Have dealt with it for years and years, way before the Compact licenses even came into being. If you have used Nursys, most other states will accept something from them and then wait for the snail mail to arrive from MI for the permanent license. Has never been an issue for me, or many others that I know of.
And it is not just MI that is not part of the Compact, more than 1/2 of the states are not. Requirements for licensure vary between state, so do not think that you are going to see a one license fit all for nursing any time soon. You do not see it in any other health care field, or anything else. They are require licenses specific to that state.
