Get a copy of the common textbook, Nursing Theorists and Their Work. It will include a brief biography.
One thing I can think of off the top of my head is that Dr. Leininger was the first director of the "Nurse Scientist Program," which was program that enabled/encouraged nurses to get PhD's in other fields back in the 1960's -- before there were PhD programs within the nursing dicipline. That core group of nurses doctorally prepared in other disciplines (from the Nurse Scientist Program) became key players in the establishment of doctoral education within nursing. That's a key part of nursing history that many nurses don't know about. She's made lots of contributions to the field of nursing education that are worth knowing about and talking about.
Agree with llg, Nursing Theorists and their Work is an excellent book...this was a course requirement textbook in my Intro to Nursing Research class...There are many nursing theorists in our present generation cycle that have contribute to our profession that I think all of us need to know about. Best Nursing book I have kept! :)

I think that if they are asking you for her " individual's top three influences", those are the ones that influenced HER, not the ones who were influenced BY her. To find out what influenced her, you're going to have to dig into her own writing; check her references, the earlier the better. You'll learn a lot more about her and her topic. Excellent assignment.

Hello. For my intro to professional nursing class we are making power point presentations over different theorists. My presentation is over Madeleine Leininger, the foundress of transcultural caring. The problem I am running into is that we must discuss these individual's top three influences. I am having a hard time finding two other contributions due to the vast info dealing with transcultural care. I know that she was involved in different educational and political things, but can't find real information about those events. Does anyone know of any resources that I can look into. I would appreciate it. Thanks
