Nursing students - what can I do to prepare while I wait?

Published

My husband I are having our first child this November, so I am in a break from school while I am growing a human. :D However, I am bored out of my mind and itching to get back in to the learning state of mind. I have finished my pre-reqs already, and won't be applying to nursing programs until after the baby is born. What could I possibly self-study while I am busy doing nothing that would help me in school? I thought I could buy some textbooks and read and learn at home while I wait.

Have you already taken your TEAS?

I would study pathophysiology. It is a very good read at least to me. It does have some dry areas but overall I love this class. Maybe get a dosage calculation book and study that. Congrats on the new baby:)

Those are good suggestions, thank you!

why do you have to wait until the baby is born?

does your school have a wait list or once your in, do you start right away?

I start the BSN program in the fall and I've finished reviewing dosage calculations and some medical terminology. I'm also going over a book called Fundamentals of Nursing Made Incredibly Easy. But I'm not trying to overload myself because I know I'll be assigned tons of books and readings once the program starts.
