Nursing Student/ test taking

Hello all, this is my first time using this site... I am a mother of three beautiful kids, married for 15 years, and I am in a Nursing Program at a local college... my question is this.

I donot understand how the Nursing questions are to be taken. Don't get me wrong, I have all my general education classes done with, thank goodness, but last semester the Nursing questions really threw me. I donot want to sound stupid, but I am really wanting to get my RN degree, and start working. I am not the only one with this problem, there some girls that did not pass because of the questions were worded very differently. If anyone could please help it would be appreciated.

I have found that on most of the test I've taken, you need to extract the pertinent information. Lots of times they throw in a lot of extra facts just to "confuse" use. Sometimes, all four answers may be right, but you need to decide which answer is the BEST. Knowing your nursing "ABC's" may help with that. Pay close attention to key words, "least, not, most, etc."

Good advice. Watch the key words. And dont read to much into a question, sometimes you can think to hard on a question and that just confuses the issue even more.

There is a book that has helped me a great deal with the exact problems you are going through. I went from making B's and high C's to making A's and high B's. This book is called Kaplan NCLEX-RN. The whole first section explains how to look at the test question and how to answer. I recommend this book to every nursing student. It is well worth the money. The ISBN number is 0-7432-0531-6.
