I would love everyone's feedback. I am currently a nursing student, and was giving this assignment.
1. The person interviewed should be a licensed nurse or was once a licensed nurse. They can be an LVN, LPN, ADN, BSN, MSN, APN, PhD, DNP, etc... and should have completed nursing school at least 6 years prior to your interview. Give the educational preparation of the nurse along with all of their current or previous certifications and any noted accomplishments.
2. What are some of the various roles that this nurse has worked in their career? What are they doing right now?
3. Discuss the reasons they chose nursing as a profession. (Ex. Job security, a family member was influential, they were ill as a child etc...)
4. What are some of the changes they have seen in nursing? What are some of the memories that they have of nursing school and their beginning careers?
5. Do they think that nursing is an honorable profession and would they still choose to be a nurse if they could go back in time?
6. What are some "words of wisdom" that they would offer a person considering this career path and any other information that you would like to ask them regarding the nursing profession and their careers?

Are you sure you aren't supposed to interview someone not just seek feedback on an anonymous Internet forum from strangers with credentials you cannot verify due to anonymity ?

My feedback is that you should go right ahead and do that assignment. I bet there are lots of nurses right in your local area.

Here's what you can get from an anonymous board:
1) RN. School. Other stuff
2) save lives. fluff pillows. On an, drinking coffee.
3) seemed like a good idea at the time.
4) yes
5) if i could back in time i'd be a stockbroker or professional gambler.
6) follow the assignment instructions to go find a real live nurse to interview.

Welcome!
There are many of us who feel strongly that he internet is not a place to get these assignments completed. Many of us are educators and KNOW what the intention of this assignment...I think when nursing students are asked to interview nurses it is meant to be face to face. Face to face interviewing is a vital skill in the nursing process of caring for a patient. Tons of information can be gleaned from body language in a face to face interaction that as a nurse you need to read to best care for your patient. In this electronic age we exist in, face to face interactions are rarer and rarer but remain vital to the assessment process.
Go to CVS and talk to the nurse practioner running the clinic, make an appointment with your PCP to speak with his nurse, talk to your local board of health in your town and their nurse practioner, check the health stop on campus, go to a local urgent care, call the local school and ask for an appointment with the school nurse. I really think perfecting interview skills is vital to the nursing assessment process.
