Hi all! I currently just finished my first semester at PSC. As if that wasn't enough I am looking for a change in schools. What gets me more than anything at PSC is their CPEs that pass or fail you. I am wondering what PHSC has been like for people for the generic RN program? I will be applying this week. I don't know why they don't give preference for someone who has shown they can compete the courses, but when I called that's what they said. Apply like everyone else. Here goes...! PLEASE help me with any advice! I'd like to know if South florida college or PHSC would be more helpful and motivating instead of disorganized and kinda setting you up to fail.
Also just to add about my anxiety...it's not in the hospital, I have overcame that through the clinicals, it's my entire life on the line based on their subjective version of me acting out of character and me failing with no gray area. Thinking about adding 6 months onto my life...it's just all of these things. There's about 20 different places you can fail with. I ended up failing CPEs at PSC, then passing; and I don't even feel like they had confidence in me. When I practiced it was a different view. Also the real world is a different view. That's neither here nor there. I ended up finishing with two B's and I have no idea how. But the immense pressure was killing me!

You may get better results to your question if you post in your specific State's forum or the student forum. (Florida?) To be honest, I'm not even sure what your acronyms mean or what school(s) you're referring to.
In the way of general advice, nursing school can be tough. There are very few exceptions to pass/fail standards in *any* program. There simply aren't grey areas: you either meet the standard or you don't.
In my region, it is not possible to transfer between nursing schools. You can drop and start over on occasion, but because of how these programs are run, the schools want you to complete classes and benchmarks in line with their specific methods - they don't give credit for classes completed at another school.
As far as disorganization and support: that is just part of the journey. Some schools are less organized than others. Also, because of the fact that the stakes are so high in healthcare (you really can kill someone) the focus of nursing school is not to walk you through the process, necessarily. The goal is to put you under pressure and ask you to THINk - because that is some of what it takes to succeed in nursing.
My recommendation is to develop some stress management techniques, get assistance for your anxiety if needed, and plow through your program. Maybe there are policies in your locale that allow for transfers, but again, that's unheard of in my region.

I read through the original post and was thinking "say what?!?"
OP it would help if you could explain what your acronyms mean. If you are talking about clinicals, skills check off, or physical assessment check off, it is not unusual for those components of many nursing programs to be set as a pass/fail.

Why are students so lazy. They post all these schools by letters only and expect us to know exactly what schools they are referring to. At least spell it out in your first sentence and use the abbreviation afterwards. For example "Does anyone know about River Valley Community College (RVCC)? I am starting my application but have some questions about RVCC."
