please can someone help me IV calculations

I have a exam on monday and have no idea how to get figure it all out. My instructor gave us some calculations to work on as practice, can someone please explain the steps on how to figure out the following 3 questions please

I want to so badly pass this part of my program as I would be graduation in April providing I can pass this part

please someone explain it in simple terms

1. Mr Jones is to recieve cefuroxime 400 mg IV q 6h. The vial indicates to add 8 mL to produce a concentration of 50 mg/mL. The drug guide indicates that cefuroxime must be diluted to 25 mg?ml and given over 30 minutes.

2. Mrs Smith is prescribed Kefzol 700 mg Iv q 8 h. The 500 mg vial indicates by adding 2.2 mL will produce 225 mg/mL. The drug guide indicates that Kefzol can be administered over 30 minutes at a concentration of 50 mg/mL

3. Mr. Hamilton is to recieve 35 mg of gravol IV q 6h prior to his scheduled morphine of 10 mg IV. The ampule of gravol indicates it is 50 mg/mL. The drug book states gravol can be infused over 15 minutes in 10mL of NS.

1) if the concentration is 50 mg/ml then how many mils = 400 mg?......then you need to dilute the drug to no more than 25 mg/ml.....so you need to at least double the volume, yes? and administer over the prescribed 30 minutes..

2) again how many mls of 225 mg/ml = 700 mg? then using a partial fill (special small bags of iv fluid that are "partially filled" that have space for you to add other fluid to) to reach the concentration you need..enough to dilute the 225mg/ml to no more than 50mg/ml

3) dose available 50/1 such that 35/x = 50x =35......35/50 = x ......7/10 of a ml

I would like to add that if you are using a pump you would have to set it for double the mL amount for it to run in 30 minutes, since the calculations usually require mL per hour, rather than mL per half hour.

Example: If you have 100 mL that needs to administered over 30 minutes, set the pump for 200 mL per hour for it to infuse over the 30 minutes.
