Job Hunting

Nursing Students Student Assist

Hello Everyone,

I am so discouraged at this point. See I just got my LVN and am excited to get my feet in the ER. but I have only experience in the Urgent care. It seems that all there is room for is the RN's/ I want to further my education and get my RN but I need to work and get my experience. I want to help people and make a difference. I live in OC, California and want a NURSING JOB..

Thank you for you time:confused:

Specializes in med/surg, telemetry, IV therapy, mgmt.

I am sorry that this is happening. Because of the insurance and Medicare rules as well as the accreditation requirements most hospitals in this area are hiring RNs only. You should be able to find a job in a nursing home quite easily. Once you finish RN school you start with a clean slate as an RN grad and then you look for work as an RN with an ER. Your past experience is nice, but the recommendations of your school instructors is what clinches your first RN job for you, not your past work as an LVN.

Specializes in acute care then Home health.

I'm a new graduate RN and I am having a hard time finding a job right now. Even applied for Med/Surg and gettng blown off. Good luck.

Specializes in pediatrics, oncology.

If it makes you feel any better I'm graduating with my BSN/RN and am having trouble finding a job too!
