Okay im in chicago and th nursing program at triton college told me i dont need a cna as pre-req, im confused help

Maybe I am missing something!

What exactly is it your looking for?

Well, if CNA is not required for admission to the nursing program, then you don't have to become one unless you want to. If it is not a requirement, it will probably be counted in the point system, or if not, at least it will look good on your application. But if you don't want to take the course, then don't. Up to you.

Specializes in med/surg, telemetry, IV therapy, mgmt.

What it means is that your nursing school will be teaching you what CNAs learn. My nursing school taught us everything about basic nursing care in our first semester of nursing school. Yours will be doing the same. Look at it this way. . .you won't be having to spend extra money for CNA training. If you look on the websites of most all the nurse aid registries, they allow nursing students to test out for CNA certification once they have completed the basic nurses training part in nursing school because basic nursing care learned in nursing school is CNA training.
