That is also the same question I have in mind. It seems there is, but I don't feel it though.

Big difference between shortage and wanting to petition a foreign nurse.
Rememeber that ti can take up to about two years to petition a nurse from the very beginning of the processs, in some cases, or even about five months with the AOS before you can start work. Most are not willing to wait for that time.

Definately a nursing shortage in Hawaii! I live here and they're advertising ALL the time.....everywhere. Some of the shortage is due to our nursing programs not having enough instructors. We've got a shortage in teachers too. Go to our local papers: Honolulu Star Bulletin, Honolulu Advertiser, Hawaii Tribune Herald or our Count of Hawaii Job Bulletins and you'll see lots of positions listed there. You can also go directly to some of our hospital sites like Queen's Hosptial, Kaiser, Kuakini, Hilo Medical Center, North Hawaii Community Hospital, Castle, and so on. Hope this helps.
Again, there is a difference between being a shortage and wanting to petition for a foreign nurse. At the earliest, the foreign nurse can begin work in about 5 months or there about, most want a nurse that begin much sooner.
