Nursing Shoes-Where are the best and most comfortable

Published

Hi everyone:

I am entering into the Nursing program this fall and I am a stickler for comfortable shoes. What are the best and most reasonably priced shoes out there. We have to have all-white nursing shoes (no clogs). I greatly appreciate anyone's help with this matter.

Yep, I love Dansko clogs, and as mentioned earlier, I have the Mary Jane style that has closed heel and closed toe. They are GREAT!

I was at the mall last night & found a pair of Dansko clogs ...but when I picked them up they were sooo heavy! I want to find something lighter. Maybe tho the Dansko are SO comfortable the weight don't matter.

daytonite:

may i ask how much these shoes cost (a ballpark figure)? i broke my ankle in 3 places over the summer and my ankle kills me after doing a 12-hour clinical day.

thanks so much and have a merry christmas!

i'm not daytonite but i used to work for a chiropractor who carried this type of shoe. i measured people by having them step into a box of foam-like material that made an impression of their foot. also, i measured their arch while they were sitting and then how much it dropped when they stood up.

you might try to look for a brand called foot levelers (play with the spelling) and see who carries them in your area. ours ran about $200 for the whole shoe and anywhere from $100 to $150 for the custom inserts.

our shoes came in black and white with 2-3 styles and not all were ugly!

if you get inserts you need to make sure that the shoe you pick to put them in is deep enough or your heel will slip out.
