Stethoscope Help!

Nurses Uniform/Gear

Published

Hello all. I am trying to find a stethoscope that will fit my ear canals. I have super small ears and so far nothing fits. I am looking into Littman or MDF. Does anyone have any experience with MDF instruments? Even on the smallest earpiece I have on my stethoscope now, I still hear more background noise than anything else. Any suggestions? I am starting LPN school next week, and I need something by then. Have any of you ever been able to try listening with a stethoscope before buying, Like a model tester? Thanks in advance!

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you can test the stethoscopes in store. I'm going to to shop around the stores this summer and then order from allheart.

EDIT: Also, Littmann is having a 20% off sale in honor of Nurse's Week.

Get soft gell ear pieces - most uniform supply stores sell the for about $10 ro $20 dollars take yout old ear pieces off and put these on. They form a nice seal in your ear and you have less back ground noise.

I have a Littman that cost about $150.00 and have been using it for 12 years. Well worth the investment.

I have the Littmann Classic III and their ear pieces fit snug so that you don't hear any outside noise, but as the previous poster said, you can just buy additional ear pieces and swap them out.
