Hi all :)
I have a few questions...
Is the Littman Lightweight II S.E. Stethoscope any good for nurses. The littman's website has it 'specifically' for nursing.
Where is the best place to get nursing scrubs? I am comparing types and prices. I have looked at scrubscanada, mark's warehouse and giant tiger.
Is there a specific type of scrubs worn in hospitals?
Thank you all in advance. :)

Moved to AN's Nursing Scrubs / Uniforms / Gear section--many posts here on this topic.
Each hospital has it's own dress code. Students need to follow nursing programs uniform requirements.
Littman Lightweight II S.E. Stethoscope is fine for nursing student novice nurse.
I've used a dual head scope for 35 years that heard lungs sounds the best on ventilated patients. Don't go into debt over a stethescope.

Many of my classmates and fellow nurses had either the Littmann Classic II (what I had) or the Lightweight as you mentioned. In my research they are both good for the price. There was a website where they rated acoustics, loudness, etc. and even these two Littmanns were rated well.
I've upgraded to a Cardiology III but as PP said there's really no need especially starting out. I "treated" myself for my NP clinicals but there isn't a massive difference between my Cardiology III and Classic II besides the Cardiology III being much heavier.
For scrubs I recommend going to a scrub shop to try some on and find the brand and style you like. I have ordered scrubs online (I use allheart) and sometimes I get them and am a bit disappointed somehow in the fit or style. Also as PP said you must follow your school's dress code (duh) and many hospitals require certain colors for different types of staff so I wouldn't invest in any until you know what you're going to need 100%.
Thank you for the replies. I've also had a look at the other threads too. Lots of useful information there! :)

I have both the Littman Classic II and the lightweight one. I much prefer the Classic II. My Classic II has been with me thru LPN and RN school as well as with me during as a LPN and RN. It's held up well.
I just got the lighweight one and I'm not really happy with it. In my opinion the sound isn't as crisp and loud with the LW one as it is with the Classic II. (lesson learned, I use my Classic II for my daily nursing job and keep the lightweight one home as a stand by if I need it).
As for scrubs, I'd go to a place you can try them on. Even when its the same brand (Cherokee for example) the different cuts might fit you differently and you may be one size in one cut/style and another size in another. I'm 3 different sizes in different brands. Often you can get them cheaper online. What I did was find the ones I liked in person..got the info from the tag (the name/style/size etc) and then ordered them online.
Thank you. I will do that for the scrubs.
