Nursing schools in DC area

Published

My husband just got a job offer in the DC area and I was planning on starting nursing school in Atlanta this January. The application process takes several months and would probably put us to move soon after my January start date. So I have two possibilities, stay behind and do my program which will take about 18 months or move and try to find another program around DC. Of course I don't know anything about the schools around there and I'd also be losing my in-state tuition in Georgia.

Does anyone know about DC nursing schools?

There are a ton, depending where you plan to live as well what type of degree you are going for. If you are planning to live in DC itself, check out the DC programs sub forum

I'd also recommend looking at the Maryland and Virginia sub forums as well.

There are numerous community colleges as well as 4 year universities including Georgetown, Marymount, George Washington, Catholic University, Howard, UDC, George Mason, Johns Hopkins, University of Maryland, etc.

We don't know much about the DC area, my husband will be working around McLean. I was going to attend a CC in Atlanta, and very cheap. So a private or expensive school is not really an option. I'm sure it will cost more that what I was looking at.

McLean is in Virginia. I'd recommend looking at NVCC, they have a variety of programs including a hybrid online program.

Overall, if you are going to a CC, you'll want to go to one in the state/county where you live or else it gets expensive quick and some CCs may not accept out of county residents in their nursing programs. NVCC is $122/credit for in state tuition. I imagine that is more than a CC in Atlanta but that is just a guess.
